Hey everyone, I’ve been buying a Taycan turbo from the Norwich dealership. I live far enough away that it’s all been online so far. I feel w CPO I have pretty good confidence I know what I’m getting . This is a 100k+, j1.2. I’ve had a mostly shitty experience working with them and just wondering whether my experience is normal.

1) they refused to budge at all on price which I found a bit unusual after living in the US
2) they NEVER return my phone calls. It’s like I’m pulling teeth buying this car
3) when I finally accepted their terms they didn’t thank me, they didn’t call to go through how things would go, they just asked me to send deposit then sent me the invoice. Zero ceremony, zero graciousness. Just a bunch of thankless lads who can’t themselves afford a Porsche but think people who do grow on trees.

I’ve paid deposit but I’m half thinking of bailing on them for another option. Is this just what I should expect and one should accept this in order to get a nice car? Anyone here have an actually good Porsche dealership to recommend?

thanks in advance!

Hi,

I’m sorry to hear your experience so far hasn’t been great.

I worked with 3 dealers around the country to source my Taycan and I am pleased to report that 2 out of 3 of them couldn’t do more for me. One of the dealers were sadly as you have described but I am pleased to report that the other two dealers were great.

I can happily recommend either Porsche of Tonbridge or Porsche in Guildford. Both have been great. I actually ended up buying my car from Guildford but only because they had an ex demonstrator that had all of the options I really wanted.

We negotiated on price and they also threw in a free ceramic coating and some other bits.

When I collected the car I had the full ceremony of the cover / blanket being pulled off the car in the showroom and a bouquet of flowers along with my spare key in a presentation box with a photo of my car and a free bottle of champagne. They also made up my private number plates for free which granted don’t cost loads but all added to the experience.

Hopefully that helps to provide some reassurance that yes there are bad dealers out there, but there are good dealers out there too.

Wow this could not be more different from my experience w Porsche Norwich. We’re lucky here in UK to be able to source such a wide range of demo Taycans. Pity the dealership that has the car w my ideal spec operates this way, but I think I will vote w my feet on this one.

Cheers for the feedback!

These days, I just assume that buying a car will not be fun, and focus on getting the car I want for a price I can tolerate. If you think the dealer is shady, then don’t buy from them. But I wouldn’t otherwise pass on the car you want just to stick it to them! With Porsches being highly customized, it may be hard to find another one you like as much. Once you drive off the lot, you don’t ever have to go back there if you don’t like the people.

had a great experience when purchasing Taycan from Guildford.
They discounted price by over 10% plus threw in free ceramic coating, Porsche outdoor car cover, Porsche hot flask, picture frame of the car, and my private number plate done FOC.
Highly recommend Guildford. Not sure if their business manager is still there:[email protected]

Porsche Colchester couldn’t have been more helpful and informative. Not too far from Norwich. If you pm me I’ll give you the most helpful sales guy‘s contact details. Their website has 25 Taycans - yours may be one of them !

I would use one word which I think perfectly describes my experience with Porsche (both from a sales but especially a service perspective) - Arrogant.

Sounds great until the Vanity plates ! Why do people do it ? I know my name and initials and really do not see the point unless it’s a builders van or a 2002 Corsa - ( asking for a friend)

I also corresponded with multiple dealers across the country while sourcing my Taycan GTS. Porsche Colorado Springs was wonderful but the vehicle I was interested in sold as I was in the process of gathering information about it. I ended up purchasing from Porsche South Shore. They were very good as well. The negotiation and purchase process were painless. They arranged to ship my Taycan in a closed container to my home in the Midwest. They also completed all the licensing paperwork and mailed me the plates, saving me a trip to the DMV.
During the search, I also inquired about a vehicle at Porsche Norwich. I did not have a good experience. I spoke by phone to a sales representative who only acted marginally interested. When I tried to reach out again, he never returned my calls. I was quite surprised at the poor customer service there.

When looking for a Taycan back in Jan-Mar I had everything from unresponsive nonchalance to proactive helpfulness from the 6 or so Porsche dealers I contacted. Ran out of patience with finding a dealer experience and car combo and went to an independent EV dealer for a much better trade/price and good service. Of course I was nervous but it helped that they had a relationship with their nearby Porsche dealer and obtained its maintenance records and sorted outstanding recalls before I bought. I’m putting a Porsche warranty on it in a few weeks when the 90 days are up, so if it gets through the 111 point check without drama I’ll know if it was a good move ?

I’ve found the same inconsistencies for service. First Porsche dealer I approached for the ARB6 recall work and 111/warranty check was a poor experience, expensive, no loan car, lack of information, rudimentary engagement. Porsche Reading was completely different, less money for the 111, loan car, full information about the work that will be done, professional and friendly to deal with. I wanted to buy from them for the same reasons but they sold the car I had my eye on.

I suggest trying Oli in Porsche Tewkesbury. We have bought two Taycans there. He is helpful - especially around what options are useful - and if there is margin in the product, they have a bit of flexibility. Nice ceremonial car collection too :)

Sometimes if you see a car in one part of the network, other dealers can acquire it for you - that’s useful to know if the dealer holding the car is a useless one.
