My J1.2 also charged at 48A/10.6KW when it was new. The major update that brought the PCM version to 4360 also reduced the maximum A/C charging speed to 40A/9.6KW. (That update was done at the dealer, not OTA). As others have mentioned, dealers either have no information or aren't allowed to reveal any reasoning behind this new limit.

I'd be fascinated if your contacts at Porsche are willing to reveal anything about this change, but I'd also be very surprised.
Question, what charger are you using to charge your car?
Is it the Porsche charger?

A ChargePoint Flex hardwired on a 60A breaker. It logs charges, which was handy when I started noticing the reduced charge rate and then wondered if I had been imagining things before the update. It also happily charges our other EV (Kia EV6) at 11KW to this day.

Here's an example from 2024 (I know this is the Taycan because we didn't yet have the Kia):

I am not sure what to think. I was going to install the update this evening, but as I got back in the car after work, the update disappeared from the Notifications. No way to tell if it was installed, as I simply clicked on it to take the picture. I am now charging at home at my normal 10.4kW speed at the car with my EVSE reporting 11.43kW output.

Anyone else who is waiting to install it, saw it just disappear completely?

You can’t access it under notifications?

We’re trying to figure out if there’s a correlation between people with unhealthy batteries who have a J1.1 and seem to be getting a reduced charge cap.
Very unlikely to have anything to do with the battery health, unless your DC charging also gets capped to 9.6kW (which you would definitely notice). I also haven't heard from any 19.2kW OBC users that they are getting limited, then again those are the 22kW parts, so they were limited by J1772 spec to 80A all along (2x9.6kW).

No longer there. It was there for about 2 days and this morning as I went to work. Then, as I got back to the car at 6pm, disappeared and zero Notifications. I did go to check on Updates, and it said all up to date. Before, when I would start the update and lock the car, upon return, there was a message of successful install for ARB7.

I’m using ChargePoint 60 amp.

It’s possible that it loaded then. Once I started the download process, it loaded without me pressing OK or doing anything else.

@Techwizard100, did you get a message upon install that it was successful and you had to press an Ok on that message for it to go away. This may be possible that it did all that as I did open it to read the description (it did say to lock the car, etc.), but I did not initiate it, and then it went away after my car was locked for 8+hours, but I have no way to know if it was installed successfully. I would assume that it did as it is not that easy to get rid of things like this. If that is the case, my 11kW OBC was not impacted.

It’s truly a puzzle. So the latest dealer updates did not change my J1.1 to 40A . I’m still charging at 10.5 as you see. I have had all of the latest updates done as of two weeks ago plus the over the air new update that just was done two days ago. My battery is very healthy. We’re trying to figure out if there’s a correlation between people with unhealthy batteries who have a J1.1 and seem to be getting a reduced charge cap.
That is puzzling. After @ct14garage's thread about the flaw in the 22 KW OBC, I've been of the opinion that the 11 KW OBC must suffer from a similar design flaw, and that's why Porsche have wanted to derate it.

It would be interesting to know which version of the control software we're actually running (I don't know which module controls the OBC - does it have its own? Is it controlled by the BMC?). Owners probably can't get that version information without PIWIS, but I've been wondering how consistent dealers are at performing every module update for a campaign. If they skipped a module for some reason I don't think we'd know.

Hi all, new to the forum but not to EVs. After installing the March OTA on my 2020 Taycan 4S, my AC charging dropped from ~9.5 kW to ~7.4 kW (about a 31% decrease). I use Tesla Destination Chargers in my condo set for 11 kW/60A—while the Taycan never hit 11 kW, 9.5 kW was consistent and sufficient.

I emailed via feedback mailbox to Porsche North America. Hopefully it gets addressed soon, as AC charging at these levels (11kW or less) will never impact battery health, so the reduction is in charging speeds makes no sense.

Sharing my before and after the update charging screenshots

Latest update. The OTA update reappeared in the Notifications so will be attempting to install it and then reporting if charging speed has been reduced.
