Does this mean this will be the last MY of Taycan 1.x? Most of the time the ultimate version is the last version before retirement right?

that has been the pattern…

taycan j1.0 2020-2024
taycan j1.2 2025-2027

taycan j2.0 2028???

the pattern above follow SOP. for other porsche models

only porsche knows if this recipe will be used for Taycan

The current Turbo GT aero has the dive planes, its not as visible due to the cover. I don't think there has been a Porsche with exposed dive planes that wasn't a Manthey kit.

The Turbo GT Weissach was developed at Manthey.

I also didn't know how much weight a roll cage adds to a car. The Turbo GT used to break the Ring record was gutted, but still heavier due to the roll cage

Preatty sure it's just a kit for the existing GT, like all manthey kits :D

Honestly, this is a waste of resources. They sold like a few hundreds of Turbo GT Weissach... maybe less. Who exactly is the target demographic for this?

I estimate around 100ish Weissachs produced.

It's strictly a PR move to say they have the Ring record. That being said, I know 2 other Wiessach owners that want it.
The issue is it will probably be $80 to $100k for it

I just wonder with the dropping sales, theoretically large unsold inventories, and low margin based on the recall/support costs, etc... Will they actually make a next gen car, or just another Hybrid Panamerica?

this is a reasonable concern - I've heard multiple sources that Porsche is not "interested" in the Taycan anymore … I'm thinking no more Taycan, but that would make me sad … and is not my desired outcome

I think a lot will have to do with how the Cayenne EV does

_IF_ there is a gen 2 Taycan and Porsche keep's to it's historical rythms they will start stirring/teasing the pot the sometime in 2027 - we'll see.

I'd rather see them use their development budget on more "streetable" pursuits.....
Ideas from the peanut gallery to Porsche's Chief Engineer(not in ranked order):
- Fix Apple CarPlay integration for SoC
- Restore 11 Kw charging
- Increase efficiency while going back to .1 exterior design

That's the easy part, just use newer motors :D

Taycan's motors are wildly inneficent. Some of the most inefficient ones on the market.
Macan EV has 16.7 – 20.6 kWh/100 km
Cayenne Turbo Electric at 1000hp+: 20.4 – 22.4 kWh/100 km
Meanwhile the taycan is sitting at 22-27kwh/100km; as the most aerodynamic car between them.

And that's already way behind The likes of tesla (13.0 kWh/100 km), Lucid ( 12.8 kWh/100 km ), Xiaomi SU7 Base ( 11.08 kWh/100 km ) and Xiaomi SU7 ultra at 1500hp (18.8 kWh/100 km). And none of these cars are more aerodynamic or lighter in any signifiant amount to make such a big difference.

Very ineffeicent motors, and they don't deliver the amount of power to justify that inefficency.

I don’t understand why Porsche isn’t sourcing the motors and batteries from china. Let’s face it, they’re making and operating millions of vehicles so they’re just better at it.

But is it really motor and batteries that hold the car back? I think there is many other systems that they should import before that.

It would be sad but I guess it's possible. As someone that would never buy and ICE car as a daily driver again it would effectively rule out buying another Porsche :(
