I'm this close to seeing my Taycan : ||

Not that I want to - new condo complex won't allow me a charger and I'm done fighting for and paying for charging

Anyway - I have a built in K40 - in my 2021 Taycan. I got it used (k40), and in the last year spent$1000 fixing it already

Now they want another $1000 to fix a new issue. I'm weeks/few months from selling the car

I don't think I'll get more for having a working radar detector. Certainly not the $1000 it'll cost to fix

Question is - will whoever I sell it to learn/realize/find the built in detector and wonder what's up with it? Will it be a detriment if it's there and not working?

Biggest ]{>££\#>2:&&:&$@\}€ waste of money ever, and I've wasted money plenty of times.

It Did a great job of alerting me of cops, but now I'm 98.3% in town with no chance to even drive fast. It has laser jammers front and rear but cops near me are 95% radar

Thoughts?

depends on how intrusive the detector is on the window. is it easy to remove?

also what is the build sheet on your taycan? saw you posting about possible prices and wondering what yours looked like as i'm in the market for a replacement 4S.

Would it cost a lot to remove it? Personally I would not want a non-working device hooked up to my EV.

Well - it's built-in and hidden - not dash-mounted

The only things visible are two small blue LEDs integrated into the dash- you don't know they're there until they go off

The left one means FRONT RADAR/LASER the right one means REAR RADAR/LASER

There's an audible beep to tell you how strong a signal and what type of radar/laser

right now only the rear one works

I guess I could have them just disable it completely, maybe even remove it

honestly a picture goes a long way. whenever you get a chance to send out a pic, more people can opine

Yeah I figured that while I was typing... But the car's there at the shop while I'm traveling

I decided to have them remove the "guts" and leave the tiny visible items so there won't be holes. $1000 can buy an AWFULLY nice radar detector AND a few steak dinners. And no telling if i fixed it if it wouldn't happen again in a few months

I might send pics once I get it back just showing the install.

I had a K40 installed in a Lexus a few years back and understand what you're saying about the LEDs. They are extremely subtle. My two cents - leave it in and disconnect it from power under the dash to keep the LEDs from lighting. The K40 typically has a jumper with a fuse connector or a plug to the control unit (no doubt there's a YouTube out there). Alternatively, just tell the buyer it isn't working and sell it "as is."
