Thumbs Up & Double Takes: Your Favorite Taycan Reactions?

I'm on my second Taycan and no one has ever given me a thumbs up or a second look. Definitely never mistaken for a Ferrari as some have said! Could be because people here are desensitized on account of "Silly-con Valley" car culture flooding the streets with some amazing rides.

Had a guy in the loading dock of Trader Joe’s take the trouble to walk out from behind and come up to me just to say “dude your car is awesome.”

Also once had this fellow who looked he like belonged in some sort of stereotypical gang honk at me in heavy traffic, roll down his windows, wave his hand to get my attention, just to say he loved the color. I thought I was going to get mugged.

I’ll add I live in an area where my car is probably one of the cheapest cars around. Like I saw three mclarens on the way home today. I attribute it not so much to the Taycan itself but probably the frozen berry color.

The frozenberry really has this effect! It’s a real attention attracting color! Awesome you have it as well, dude.

One time I was stopped at a light and a couple were walking across the crosswalk in front of me, a guy and a girl who looked to be in their early twenties. The guy stopped dead when he saw me and said, “holy s**t!” (I think he recognized it, an Oak Green CT). The girl kept walking, but she said, “ooooh, nice car!”

The reaction I usually get is “I LOVE your/that car!” to which I say “Thanks - so do I!”

While I was still on a wait list I stopped a Taycan owner at the Dream Inn / Jack O'Neills to talk. Does it count for the thread if a future owner was the one reacting

The Oak Green can’t be beat, IMHO!

Had someone pointed at my front PSCB brakes in front of a 7/11 saying: dude the brakes are bigger than my wheels. Over 2 years of ownership this was the most interesting reaction I have received.

Well I'll be in Monterey CA for car week starting tomorrow through the weekend. I'm wondering how many Taycans I'll see and whether people would care given the eye candy in the area this week. I'll report back!

(And yes, not taking the GT3 for once!)

Where I live there are probably a dozen Taycans within 5 miles, so very little reaction from people locally.

I took it down to Paris last year though and would often find people taking selfies next to it!

I live in OC SoCal and get quite a few compliments, mainly because of the color.
Metallic Red is such a gorgeous color, I don't know why they discontinued it.

Photo is not my car, but I have the exact same year, color, and wheels.

In two months of ownership, this car has generated more stares, glares, smiles, compliments, questions, and general interest — notably from women of all ages — than the sum of comments about 40+ other cars I've owned, some spectacular in their time, in 65 years of driving. If not the most PC, one comment from a good-ol-boy tennis buddy may be the most on point: "Your car is a real panty-dropper." Sadly — hey, I'm single again — that opinion hasn't (yet) rung true IRL.

So I pull into Starbucks yesterday and the two older gentlemen sitting at a table nearby stop me to ask about the car. They say it is gorgeous, and want to know if it is gas, hybrid, or electric.

When I say "Electric" you can see one of them go from excited to disappointed. He was really hoping it was powered by a V8

There are also cultural anomalies at play here.

In Britain we tend not to make a show. Stiffer upper lip and restraint where showing off is frowned upon.

So even if you see the greatest car in the world - you would just carry on sipping your tea and reading The Times.
Then have a brief glance once it drives off and the driver can't see you.

My area of northern california is the same. People usually just mind their own business. I've had the Cross Turismo in Mamba Green since 2022 and the only reaction I got was someone complimenting me on the nice color of my "Outback" - like in Subaru Outback. I just thanked him and moved on...
