I dont see the value over the upgraded J1 Turbo S.
From a power perspective I don't see it either, who needs more and 700hp for road driving.
I would upgrade only for the increased range.

In Normal mode the suspension felt very compliant
I feel the previous suspension is very compliant too, I expect way better ride quality from PAR, like an S-class in comfort mode.

Drove the 2025 Taycan Turbo S

TL;DL I dont see the value over the upgraded J1 Turbo S.

I wasn't impressed with the power increase, but I loved the Active Ride. I would say it's the the biggest difference between the current J1 platform and the J1 II.
Because I have the Redshift Performance upgrade on my RS E-Tron GT, it's pretty quick and responsive so I wasn't blown away by the power increase of the Turbo S. Yes is much faster on launch (938hp) but it's not like I couldn't breath or I was going to faint from the power. I thought the new Turbo S would ruin my car for me, but it didn't.

In Normal mode the suspension felt very compliant. I took it through some twisty roads and felt the Active Ride. That was impressive.
Also under heavy braking the active suspension kept it planted.
The Entry mode is VERY useful for entry and exciting the car. Soft close is lovely

I did the launch control to feel the full 938hp. I hit around 120mph, but I didn't take my breath away that much more than my car.
Is Sport Plus it felt very responsive, but not that much more responsive than my car after the tune. I didn't do Push to Pass

The Turbo GT looks way better with the aero kit. I love how it looks.
Because you have to lease these cars, the numbers are absolutely atrocious! Both the Turbo S and Turbo GT have a 44% residual and a 8.38% APR for the money factor. It makes it impossible to lease these unless Porsche offers $80k off the car and a subvented MF.

Not sure who would get these cars in the US unless money is no object, but that wont be a volume play for Porsche.

The Turbo GTs front is mouth watering

Soft close - that’s what I’m missing. Not available (in the UK at least) on the GT. Wonder why not?

Its not an option in the US either. Its under the premium package on the Turbo S. Maybe weight savings for the GT?

I agree with your suspension comment.
Power is subjective on your use case. 700hp is a lot for driving on the roads

Weight savings for the Weissach option I could understand, but for the non-Weissach not so sure.

I agree! Taycan is a car you can take to dinner, put in in Sport+ and take the twisty roads for fun.
I don't want a back seat , but I don't want all that road noise because Porsche wants to save a few KGs on sound deadening

It will be weight. Soft close motors are heavy, same reason they dropped the electric close boot.

On the Weissach, I agree. Can’t lock the car from my boot, but I have electric close.

I have a loaner with soft close doors this week. Not sure what the fuss is about?

I have never had a car with soft close, so not sure how cool or exciting it is… But it’s something I don’t have, so of course I want it :)

You mean soft close is over rated?
Yes, IMO.

My normal doors close easily and open to the degrees I need with no fuss.

I was messing about with the soft close doors tonight...if the door closes "just so" it does pull them in and latch them. Happy days.

Push too gently and they don't reach the catch point.

Shove them harder and they close like normal doors (typical MO in our household..."soft close" being an oxymoron here!).

I'd be forever shutting them too softly or too hard, and wondering what I spent my £546 on!

Comfort access would be a million times more of a miss to me than soft close doors :)

Good to hear your impressions vs a tuned eTron RS.

Why not try push-to-pass for the extra 94hp, I find it makes a noticeable difference (Turbo, not TurboS)

I didn't have time to try the Push to Pass. Tires didn't keep the car in place while hammering it when not in push to pass so I didn't feel as comfortable to do it either.
The other issue this platform has is the way it delivers power. It's very linear compared to other EVs so you don't "feel" the power as much

Sounds like a proper test drive if the tyres were giving up, great effort
