Powertrain and chassis facts sound quite promising. If the design stays like that, it will be a true bummer, rather than a Bimmer.

M3 Touring is a true bespoke car now, they will definitely repeat that.
For you Europeans, yes.
For us Americans … TBD?
(Please please pretty please yes!)

Question: will four motors provide better traction on snow? Or are the differentials on each axle already so sophisticated on good cars that it won’t make any difference?

In theory it should be better: the car can exactly control the amount of torque and speed of each wheel independently instead of relying on adjusting the slip on the diff, a clutch pack or tapping the brakes. So, less latency and more accurate control.

On the other hand, a mechanical torque sensing system is pretty reliable and predictable. You can imagine BMW getting the algorithm slightly wrong or hitting a weird corner case and the car doing the wrong thing at a critical moment.

Hardware vs software...

Vented hood on an EV 😂
EVs also have radiators?

As an example, Xiaomi's su7 prototype that reached 6:22.091 on the nurburing - not street legal due to no interior or airbags - had a vented hood, with a big old radiator, to help keep the battery temps down.

If anything, the plastic air flaps on the cayenne EV look funnier, but maybe it's just me not being concerned about the aerodynamics of a fridge on wheels.

I think this new bmw has good chances of looking better than most recent bmw's:

I don’t know about you (the reader) but I’m a true petrol head, and I love the sound of an engine. I have a bunch of ICE coolness and when it comes to my Taycan ST GTS, I leave the extra sound off. It doesn’t sound like authenticity to me when you have speakers making sounds. I prefer to be “honest” and admit I have a quiet car and that’s a virtue on my 250km twice weekly commute to the country. I used to drive a 5.5L twin turbo out here and I admit that we arrive more relaxed in the GTS.

Why do we need to “fake” features instead of celebrating the differences?

My new personalized plate? PORSHHH

Aren't Porsche ICE cars (and other manufacturers) piping engine noise into the cabin? How do you know they aren't modifying that sound? Is that different than the entirely fake sound EVs are creating?

FWIW, I don't value engine noise at all and wish all cars were as silent as EVs should be.

They have been for a while....

I love engines with true sound... Fake stuff... Nope.

Yeah, its one of those things that you can't get around to some degree - like stick, hard to find a stick shift performance car, but what doesn't make sense to me is changing "gears" in a car without a gearbox. Just like a sound that isn't real vs. amplifying a sound so its louder in the cabin for a sportier feel.
