I have the Active Parking feature, but I can't figure out how it's supposed to work.

I also have never seen a steering wheel icon on the app, which is supposed to allow "summon" style backing out for you in tight spots.

I know I have the feature, it's on my sticker.

Assume it doesn't work, its for the better, rather than be dissapointed with how pathetic it is
Yeah that's kinda the opinion I've formed! Even if I understood it, I'd want a totally empty lot to try it. Because, Porsche.

They are not good at tech.

I probably shouldn’t do this from memory, but my recollection is there is an icon of a steering wheel in the lower left (or at least on the left) on the lower center screen. Pushing that brings up a display of the car in the top center. There is at least one other way to enter parking mode in the UI (in typical German software engineering fashion).

While in this mode, there is some kind of graphics to indicate (while driving) if it sees a spot ahead, to the side, or behind you. You can’t start the parking process unless you see the swooping lines from your car into the highlighted spot.

To engage, you have to both come to a full stop (like push the brake hard and let go stop) and then push something. I think on the top screen? At that point there is messaging about how it’s taking over. It does a decent job. Though it does do a lot of full stop wheel turns which really grind the tires. Also, I’ve had it fail mid park. Especially with rear traffic that starts to pass on the left.

Due to all of these quirks I really don’t use it much. It’s more of a demo for a new passenger wanting to know the features of the car.

I don’t have the remote park feature, so I don’t have the icon in the app.

I've used it twice and it worked well.

Oh, so remote park is a different thing?
I had to google it. It’s “Remote Park Assist”. And yes, it’s separate from “Active Parking Support”. I had the same misunderstanding.

I checked. Two ways in are:
-Lower left of lower display
-Lower right of upper display (only when in parking view and only when in drive!)

it’s this button. Never used it so far but I do love the active parking support Where she parks herself!

I have parking assist, but I don't think I have remote parking. So please someone with more knowledge than me enlighten me: am I assuming correctly that remote parking is mainly geared towards being able to park the car in public parkings where there isn't enough space to get out of the car, but in order to do that, you need an active internet connection, which is almost NEVER available in underground parkings?

lol. Good point.
however, if you have remote parking you also have active parking. Luckyly that doesn’t need internet!
I always figured if I can’t get out the guy next to me also can’t get in… I never park in even slightly tight spots in fear of a#*holes who just slam their doors open…

Correct. But a parking garage isn't the only place this might be needed. Example:

You don’t see that icon in your app?
