Hello,

When backing up the car, the rear camera shows a very weird view. It appears as if the cars next to you are very close (and that you actually might hit them). It gets confusing. I just focus on the small window on the left that shows the top view.

It would be nice to change the rear view to something more normal. Wondering if there is such a setting or if this is just a design problem.

Thanks
Peter

Unfortunately not. It’s quite bad. One of the main things people complain about.

Yes, there is a “normal view” button on the left side of the display you can push to turn off the fish-eye rear view.

.. complaints only in NA!

Fish eye view, tap the rear camera (or front) and the view will / should change.
The parking lines disappear when you change away from the fisheye though. Why can't they leave the view as whatever was used previously? Why default to fisheye? Regardless even the "normal" view is pretty crappy.

The lines will disappear but I guess I'm accustomed to driving to the parking beepers and know with some accuracy the relative distance to the object aided by the tone pitch. Agree that it would be helpful to 'remember' the last used position but I guess the intent is to first show you the broader picture before attempting the parking / reversing manoeuvre.

I honestly don't have any issues with the parking setup (I have 360 panoramic / surround and not the full 3D (waste of money IMHO)). I regularly park side on to a wall between 2 concrete pillars will about 2 - 2.5 feet of a gap front and rear and 100% reliant on the camera view(s) and audible sounds. I guess its what you are used to in terms of manoeuvring situations.

I've had the same system in my Macan Turbo, Panamera ST and now the Taycan - the latter is better IMHO. The 'challenge' is that the camera is mounted low down (beneath the bumper) and therefore gives a different perspective than what most people are used to. On the basis that the rear bumper protrudes the most then this will always be the closest thing to any obstacle.
