@Caraholic thanks for the details.
Hope the repairs provide you a long time of reliability in the future.

Another example of how the 8 year battery warranty sounds good, except for the detail that exercising the warranty results in the car being out of use for four months.

The recommendation to drain the battery is consistent with what other posters here have reported.
Since tripping the HV battery codes may immobilize the car, I'm wondering if it's worth draining the battery and parking it overnight at the dealer, rather than having to have the car towed from home.

I think it’s worth the risk so it doesn’t happen when your on a longer trip in the middle of nowhere.

@Caraholic reading your story makes me think the decision to replace cells instead of the full battery might be also for Porsche to gain more experience on this rather than an economic decision.

Most likely they really need to get these cost down though. Something like this for the average person out of warranty would
Kill the car. If it was very limited it would be one thing but these are popping up pretty frequently. If we were stuck with that cost of repair my wife would murder me haha.

That 46k was only for one of the dealers work the other dealers invoice I never received. So the total bill was actually larger.
That sounds far too expensive.

I do not think Porsche will replace cells as such, but will replace a module. Each module has 6 cells iirc. So you most likely had two cells replaced.
I also had two cells replaced and believe the total wok consisted of some 60 -70 hours work. Plus a parts and time for testing etc. But nowhere near 46k dollars.

However good that your range has improved.

I miss spoke I re looked at the itemized receipt it was 42k.
Parts were a little over 31 and the rest was labor.

Interesting. What actual parts did they change for you? I can believe the actual labour costs, even if it seems on the high side?

If you look at this website I have understood the modules to cost about 1000 dollars each. There are 33 of them in the PB+. And a complete battery seems to cost about 30 k dollars?

USD$53,400 to replace the complete HV battery, plus an additional $13,065 core charge if the battery is not salvageable:

Wow! They changed 12 modules out of 33 in the battery! Plus nearly 200 bolts with washers.

That is quite some repair!

Wouldn't be cheaper to replace the whole battery pack and save the labor costs?

You would think. Time frame would also not of been nearly as long. I have a feeling mine was more or less used as a training exercise to teach the master tech at the dealer. Since they still have to fly in the specialist from Atlanta.
