I found it hard to be arrogant when I spent so much of my Taycan ownership in a rental car loaner while mine was being fixed.

Explaining to the neighbours why it was missing, or being flat bedded away again, completely swallowed up any pride in owning a Porsche.
It became an embarrassment.

I'm not sure.
There are certainly a few people on here who come across as arrogant in how they write, it might be based on their country of origin though (yanks have less of an excuse ;)).

I do find that in general people are (as already mentioned) much kinder/respectful of Porsches than the ostentatious tits driving around in Lambos, R8's and similar "super"cars. Probably because often the people who drive lambos have only hired/leased them to make themselves look good. Whereas Porsche owners buy them primarily for the experience.

In my experience though, I have had a LOT more people (driving similar cars) wave/acknowledge me when i had my Boxster and 911 than I have had with my Taycan , which i guess really says volumes about the Taycan really just being on par with other german manufacturers saloon cars as a lot of them tend to be "owned" because they got them on a company car lease. so to them its just another car, not something special that an actual porsche owner/fan covets their Taycan.
So based on that, I feel that the arrogance is mainly felt from those who buy/lease their cars either because "status" or necessity, whereas real porsche people don't tend to be anywhere near as arrogant.

My wife gave me wise advice when I got my Taycan. If you drive aggressively in a basic car, nobody gives it a second thought. If your drive aggressively in a nice car, people with think you are an asshole.
If you drive 'aggressively' in any car, people think you're an a**hole. If you drive aggressively in a Porsche, people think you're a Porsche a**hole. I will also point out that you can drive a lot more 'aggressively' in a Porsche than most cars - hence a Porsche driver is probably considered more 'arrogant' than a basic car driver.

You could probably make a pretty good case that wealthy people are, in general, arrogant. But I don't see many Mercedes S class folk driving 'aggressively', so Porsche owners are doubly disadvantaged.

I suspect much of the perceived "arrogance" is a result of jealousy.

Do you think people would like to see this happening to Porsche drivers?

My neighbor drives a Tesla and keeps talking about “range anxiety.” I nodded politely while silently thinking, “Ah yes, peasant problems.”
No range anxiety here. I have one of my people follow in the Bentley with a big battery charger for when it gets low. Can't let things like range anxiety crimp my new-found green credentials ?

I enjoyed your responses, everyone. I lived for awhile with a standard poodle, an intelligent dignified animal. When we walked in the neighborhood dogs would bark and run up to him. He would stand still with his noble head erect while they sniffed his ass and then he would just walk on. Not arrogant, just patient with inferior behavior.

Well the spotlight effect comes to mind - other people generally care much less about you than one might believe/internalise.
I was just posting about my Standard Poodle which is the only living specie that i live to impress. I could give a rats ass about anyone else!

As a Ferrari owner, I can say public perception tends to be gentler towards Porsche owners ;)
Probably the opposite here in the UK.
In my Porsche I have had truck drivers try to prevent me overtaking and in my Ferrari it has been "swap you mate?"

That's because S class / EQS owners are in essence driving a boat with fantastic stabilisers!
