Hey guys, this is gonna be my first purchase of a $200k+ car (quite honestly also my first time for a $100k+ car :giggle:) So just wondering if you guys recommend any particular auto insurance company for a car of this magnitude in price? I had GEICO on my M4, so not sure if I should stick around with them or go for something else?

BTW I live in California, so US feedback is preferred. Thanks in advance!

I shopped around with a couple of insurers (not many) for a quote and got the best number from GEICO. Live in NJ, though...

Live just outside of Portland, Oregon and use State Farm. We get every discount possible (multi-car, accident-free, multi-policies, <7500 miles per year, retired, State Farm forever, etc.). Our >$200K Turbo S costs $80 per month .

edit: changed month to year

That's shockingly cheap. Good for you.

That’s an amazing rate. I have USAA, which has all of our property and auto insurance, been a customer for 20+ years, very minor accident history, excellent credit score, and tons of discounts and my 4S is $2280/year (granted, I have low deductible and other options), but $80/month is bananas good.

Forgot to mention our deductibles are $1,000 - we do not mess with the insurance company for minor issues.

I got similar results as well with State Farm in Oregon.

Hmm interesting, my parents have been using State Farm for ages. Maybe I'll ask them to talk to their agent and try to give me a good deal if possible.

I have SAFECO and my 4 S is $2063 annually, 15K miles, $500K liability, $1000 deductible collision, $1500 deductible comprehensive. I don't like calling the insurance company either. My Spyder & Cayenne are half this each.

FWIW location matters a ton. Just for grins I asked for a quote for if I kept it at my mom's house, which is an hour outside the city. Less than half of what it costs at my house (same car, same driver). All about loss rates calculated down to ZIP code levels. Both collision and theft/damage.

My agent, with whom I have a very long relationship & have much larger business policies with (in addition to a few semi trucks & about a dozen employee cars), thinks Taycan rates will come down as they get some real history. Porsche rates tend to be lower than comparably priced BMWs or Mercedes but the sticker price + getting soaked on Teslas is making them cautious out of the gate.
