Interested in feedback from people who have made the move from J1 to J1.2.

Also curious, is ALK still an in-app-purchase buy-in like it was on the old ones?

I did a head to head comparison to my J1.1 Turbo when J1.2 came out, that you will not find anywhere else, and then I have driven several for several days, so take a look at my comparison below. Also, I have many pages of Porsche official materials on J1.2 if you would like to ask any specific comparison questions, and I will find the answers. I did drive the latest Turbo S with ActiveRide at ATL latest track, but I did not review that as I am not a suspension expert, but the J1.1 AS+PDCC is solid, and J1.2 revised AS is great, but PAR seems like an overkill and too new to be reliable.

As far as ALK, this is still part of InnoDrive as before, but no more FOD supported on the latest Taycan or Macan EV, but with more improvements as far as Assistance screens such as 3D models.

I had a 2020 4S for about 18 months and then sold it due to some personal circumstances unrelated to the car. About 18 months ago I went to a 2025 Turbo. My 4S was largely trouble free although like many folks I dealt with a broken heater and sluggish PCM. I was excited to move to a 2025 because I wanted more range and I figured the 2025 would have some of the rough edges smoothed out. The range is excellent. I can get up to 365 miles in the summer and high 200's in the winter. That is huge for me as I have a number of common trips that were just outside the range of the 2020 4S. Now I can complete those trips without a stop which is great.

Reliability on the 2025 has been great. I have had zero service items.

I do find that the 2025 is more polished overall with the speed and reliability of the PCM being a big piece of it. That said the PCM still isn't perfect.

Getting Plug and Charge and Android Auto were really nice in the 2025. I also have 4 wheel steering which I didn't have in my 2020 4S although that clearly was on me. I park in a lot of tight garages so the 4 wheel steering has been a nice addition.

The power difference is significant but obviously part of that is going from a 4S to a Turbo.

To summarize, I would say the range has been the biggest change for me.

I always bought it via FOD - so now if the car lacks Innodrive, no ALK?

I'm buying lottery tickets right now. If it possible @DerekS is getting a new Taycan, winning in the lottery should also be possible..

ALK is only a factory option for j1.2, not available as FoD. ALK and Innodrive come in a package. So always together.

Does it show the cars around you like it is with some other car brands? Or what does the 3 lanes with up to 5 road users mean?

Same here, count me in on this bet that Derek will give in to the Taycan luring him back in as I am pretty sure EV Boxter is not happening, so J1.2 is all we have with possibly nothing after that. Get them while they still make them!

Agree that 2025 is more polished, but now the J1.1 is considered to be the raw original with all that 48V PDCC wiring. I now feel like I may have the best one and it may start appreciating...Love everything about mine and will be holding on to it.

That’s why I am considering another Taycan. I don’t think the EV Boxster is going to happen.
I still want a Porsche, and I still don’t want ICE.

That sounds awesome. Looking forward to your build details! GT sounds like a close fit as you can have your wish with WP to have rear seats out. There is one sitting right in the middle of the ATL Porsche center as you walk in

That one is way too much money for me. I drive my cars and there is a limit to how much cash I want on the road.

Eyeballing a 2025 GTS.

I haven’t decided yet though. It would be nice to restart warranty, free EA, connectivity, and get all the improvements.

On the flip side it’s a large cash outlay to get basically what I have now. Even my move from the base to the GTS felt muted, this one would be more so.

I was supposed to be in a Boxster EV by now.

There are 25 GTSs out of state. I've seen 15% off, plus lease incentives of $15k off.

So there might be some good deals. You can always buy our the lease very soon to avoid the high MF of the lease

You wouldn't want to get a 4 or 4S + MapEV to mitigate the loss? Apparently on J1.2 everything that's a 4 or higher can be turned into the equivalent of a Turbo. Not that I can personally recommend that quite yet (but I'm planning on trying it out soon on my J1.2 4S).
