Tesla used to do that, but then they realized that that can cause issues like forgetting to reconnect them back, they don't want to power on, etc, so instead they just cover the cameras by putting a special cover on the windshield for dashcams, or some painter's tape.they will even disconnect any cameras you may have installed.
it is not unusual
