I still wonder why they refuse to update to 4360. Is there any customer oriented thinking left ? The car does not drive faster, longer or better. It is a simple UI update for something that was learned along the EE journey to mitigate its irks and quirks.
Money. The reason is money.

PAG would have to pay 6-9h of service time for every taycan that goes to get its software update.

Plus the risk that some updates might not work on an older ECU, might brick it, and result in a hefty bill for repair/replacement.

Just the update at Porsche workshop rates for 150k cars would be several hundred millions of dollars! Just to keep some owners happy.
Not on Porsche’s radar I am afraid

Might sound so, but in the end the cost will be higher in not doing so. The first gen1 owners have been gotten a new (old) PCM swapped in blindly trying to resolve the problems, Unfortunately without effect, guess that is a bit more expensive.

Since someone from PAG officially raised the possibility in updating the „old“ cars again months ago (maybe during a regular service to keep costs low) it would have been an easy way to mitigate growing unease having to deal with issues that are not to be found on the owners side. Plus the software gets regular Updates over the lifetime anyway while being in service. And in the end it is less expensive since there it is easier to have one software release on J1.1 and early 1.2 instead two software versions on J1.1 and J1.2. Any software developer would agree to this.

Porsche is not run by developers and engineers since a long time by the looks of it.

Don’t get me wrong, the software is a mess. There is a company dedicated to UX and SW, Porsche Digital. Pretty cool and young company with a startup vibe.

They are responsible for the app, Apple CarPlay integration, and apparently also for the PCM.

So while Porsche itself is not run by developers and engineers, Porsche Digital actually is. So we should and could expect more from Porsche. They have the right people on the right places when it comes to SW development.

How I know this? I did some investigation to get the contact details of the one responsible for PCM, to annoy him personally to fix the mess 😅 And did learn a lot about the SW departments and business structure.

Today my Taycan displayed a message for a new OTA update. -> Infotainment update Finder 7.1.23. Unfortunately, there is no further information about it.
I haven't installed the update yet.

I installed it but have only driven 2 miles so can’t report on whether it has fixed or broken anything

Infotainment update Finder 7.1.23 installed this morning and navigation still hangs at roundabouts.

Mine updated yesterday morning, but I have the charge planner turned off and since then its not missed anything and not stalling at all...

That is 2 journeys at over 100 miles each time with charge planning off and working perfectly...

Might suggest that the problem is the real-time status updates of the charger usage.

I think you are correct, but how have Porsche not noticed it and fixed it if thousands of European Taycans are having the issue?

They should at least let us use Waze and the PCM nav at the same time so we can get updates on SOC at destination but reliable navigation to get there.
