The nav update is ok for a while until from one day on it isn‘t anymore. Since last week I have to deal with the usual nonsense again, today even hard reboot needed.

When I drove thru Belgium 3 weeks ago, I received one map update after another and the nav crashed on me every 10 mins. When I repeated the identical trip 1 week ago, I received no map updates and the nav was fine.

EDIT: Both trips with active Charge Planner.

From porsche mobility.
Regrettably, we are currently unable to provide a precise timeline for the release of the relevant software update.

However, I am pleased to inform you that the update addressing your concern is already undergoing thorough testing.
They are fully aware that TI 65/23 is not the solution. They just want to give people something to hold to, in hopes that they don't fill in reports for an official recall.

There is a solution coming... eventually, doesn't look like soon. Supposedly it's in testing.

The only way i can excuse 6-12 months development for a bug fix is if it comes with massive optimizations for the whole PCM or an actual update to the PCM, similar to what EVs at 1/10th of the price offer. Otherwise, it's again premium prices for far below unacceptable services, in Porsche fashion.

In switzerland porsche mobility / support stopped recommended 3885 update for this issue, and now instead only say: it is a known issue and engineers are at work. My dealer said they have cars weekly coming for this issue, and since there is no official TSB from porsche, they cannot tell owners to not come and wait.
Service manager at PZ Zug was still saying this is solution 18 December when I had mine done. Strange. It also seems to have fixed my crashes.

My car was returned from service yesterday...they updated the PCM as over Christmas I was getting the rebooting more and more to the point where over the last couple of trips it was unusable.

I asked if it could be updated to J1.2 s/w...no response and it hasn't been.

I now have
  • UI = release-37.17-2147-SNAPSHOT-17.09.2024-15:50:44 (so am assuming no updates for 15mths)
  • s/w vers = MPR3_ER_POG46_K3885
  • PCM vers = 3885
  • Hardware = H9J1035070AG
  • Text vers = MIB3_GUI_37.32_20230215
  • Nav package = V03959808RM_P1320_EU_2024.06 (so am assuming no updates for 18mths)
  • Gracenote = Region=EUROPE-Version=8 (for completeness - music searching :))
Will see how it goes.
My 18 Dec AD visit for update is to same except for Nav 25.12 and gracenote V9... go figure

And a few hundred people have had the same being told, only for the "solution" to last 2-6 weeks.

Lucid discussing bugs meanwhile:

I guess Porsche is allergic to transparency and reassuring their customers.

While disappointing, Porsche is hardly alone in that. Compare Microsoft.

3885 is not the solution. But an update is always good. My Taycan is at the dealer for two days now. Inhave no clue what they are doing, but they said that the next step is changing hardware. Maybe that is what they are doing. Will update when I know more

For instance after the Ti 85 / .. and the 3885 updates and some things asked by Porsche Germany my satnav is working fine since the beginning of December.
Hope it Will be fine definitively.
I have ordered a 911 Targa 4S and Will change my GTS23 at the end of march that Will be my solution to wait until the 718 is available.

I finally got my car back today after a three-day visit to the dealership. They applied a few software patches. The service guys were incredibly helpful and provided some insights into Porsche’s approach to this issue. PAG is actively working on a solution, and the service advisors believe it’s a RAM or memory problem, which aligns with our initial thoughts on this thread. They received the green light to replace some PCM’s in certain Taycans. However, they need to apply all the patches first, so they applied it for me. They expect me to be back within a week as they are not under the impression the updates are the fix. Afterward, they can order a new PCM unit, which is currently backordered due to the high demand caused by this issue. They aim for a March replacement. Fine by me as I only do road trips in summer months. They acknowledge that this is a major setback and are concerned that it could negatively impact Porsche’s reputation. There are too many problems, and all owners are not upgrading to J1.2 as they had anticipated a few years ago.

On a unrelated note, they shared some information about the new seven-seater above the Cayenne and the 718 EV (sorry, @chun, it’s really coming!). They even shared info about the factory locations and expected drive trains.
