walked away for a bit, the front is now connected snug. The middle part, slips in on the bottom but is just a bit less wide on the top, near the window and because of that it doesn’t hold the lock And recesses a few mm
any thoughts on how to fix that?

in hindsight:
big panel off > easy
turn mirror, middle panel drops lose > easy
middle panel out of the way
slide front from mirror socket. > now very easy

connect cable
put mirror back > a bit finicky
route cable above middle cover and put middle cover sort of in position
slide on cam cap on mirror socket > this is a bitch before it sits right.
once snug, slide middle part towards it, it should click (mine clicks and jumps back)
but big plate back.

I'm awaiting an extended review :)

I have the viofo on order. I only went that route because I wanted real 4k, dual channel and proper parking mode. Otherwise I would have risked it with the fitcamx. Unfortunately the seller started to complicate way too much with hardwiring the thing to have proper parking mode.

So the previous owner already removed the cover and broke the pins
the evidence is in the breaking marks.
long story short I need to order a new middle panel and Porsche wants €48!!! Euro for it.
but now I’ve seen the breaking mark I cannot unsee it, even if it’s out of sight.
but then all should be good.

Ah crap. That sucks.

48€ isn't too bad. Sounds more like BMW prices, not Porsche prices. Is it an easy swap?

Why would have the previous owner messed with that area anyway?

There was a dashcam already maybe?

Maybe he had an fitcamx too and removed for resale?
maybe there was a repair? I dunno.
But I removed the front cap by removing the mirror, after that it was very simple just to squeeze the middle panel part between thumb and index finger and they are separated. The locking hooks left and right were already torn and then I did see the forcing mark on the side.
but the cam is working well, the app is working fine. So just swallow another 50 bucks to have it pristine.

I wish I knew why it didn’t work for me.

I also lost vehicle LTE for a while after messing with it (just a bad coincidence) so I have a healthy fear of messing with it.

Wow, that new video is so much better.

when I did it a couple of months back I had no issue taking everything apart (camera came with the tools). It was putting back the lives that was the pain.

first getting the mirror back on was tricky. Aligning it right to twist it back. Then the camera was not snug. There Was an ugly gap. I had to remove it and push the cable deeper so the connection point was not inhibiting a clip or something. I almost gave up until I noticed that was the issue.

Very happy with the camera look and feel.

the software is not the best but it works and it’s easy get files off the device and on the my phone.

I like the software being basic (using the fitcamx branded software) no BS about cloud syncing just live view and accessing the SD card and park sensitivity settings.
So I’m really happy. Today I’ll try to glue the broken hooks from the previous owner, otherwise I order a new middle panel. It’s indeed the cable that causes the tension. For me it’s the reason why with the empty socket cap the middle cap stayed in place but with the filled cam and cable it’s a bit more under tension and the torn hooks don’t hold and it recesses. The backup plan is burning the extra 50€
the cam itself sits perfectly around the socket and works like a charm.
But its just like the mark on my wheelhub, there appearantly is a different breed of people who just go “all in” with a screwdriver without any concern of thinking things through. I’m more of an autist, zooming in on potential failure and being extra extra careful.

I'm interested in the front and rear cameras. The installation on the front seems clear enough but I'm not sure about the rear one. I do have the Cross Turismo and routing the cable to the hatchback door to install the camera is problematic to make it clean.
Any experience will be welcome.
Thank you

Let’s see if we can repair the middle panel, pulled before, by someone else. If not it’s 48€ for a replacement.

Profit… :)
the passenger side is not 100% to my liking because of the previous scruffs, but good enough for now.
Now, i’ve still got a spare 400gb superspeed microsd, wondering if the cam can take that capacity. That would increase video to nearly a year of footage.

I got mine installed last weekend. The video a couple pages back was very helpful. I didn't get any pics of it installed but the smallest curved piece between the mirror post and the overhead trim was the biggest PITA (maybe because I ordered a rear facing camera). The gaps aren't as tight as new but perfectly acceptable and not noticeable by anyone unless pointed out. The gaps are at least evenly gapped. The from cam is imperceptible and the rear cam is noticeable but unobtrusive. I started to run the rear cam cable myself but decided to just pay to have Best Buy run it for me. I was a little apprehensive about letting a couple of Best Buy hacks do the work but they did a decent job. Overall, I'm happy with the results and the product.

Top pic is to show the size of the rear cam in the mirror.

Did you try the 400gb microsd? According to their website, the camera can only handle up to 128gb. Curious if anyone is successfully using over a 128gb microsd.
