Team,

I got a solid 8-10 hours seat time in highway driving this weekend with Innodrive in full control of my vehicle for long periods of time. I can report that the option to disable/enable speed-limit adherence makes a world of difference in my personal satisfaction with Innodrive.

For those that are new to this - Innodrive adaptive cruise control will sometimes decelerate when it thinks you have changes speed-limit zones - you can be cooking along at 65 mph and suddently for no apparent reason Innodrive will set the max speed to 35 mph and aggressively slow the vehicle to the suprise and delight of the driver and the vehicle behind you that thinks you’ve just brake checked them in attempted insurancd scam - and then less than 1/4 mile father down the road the vehicle will return to it’s 65 mph setting…

well a week or so ago I found the following very interesting settings screen:

Porsche Taycan fixing Innodrive - a trip report D1BC00D0-06FA-43D1-8558-DEB55C9BB562

I can report my driving experience is vastly improved with “Regard detected speed limits” disabled - the vehicle never once adjusted speed without my permission and never brake checked the vehicle behind me.

If you’re having trouble with Innodrive automatic speed adjustments - I highly recomend you check out this setting and adjust it to your personal taste.

Can i ask if you had the Porsche native navigation switched on?

On my mercedes i find that it acts strangely if you dont have the route guidance switched on, for example if you are on a flyover and the speed above is 50 but below is 30, unless nav is on it would pick the slower speed

Great update. It looks in the manual like if you have "consider speed limits" deselected it still detects the speed limit but just asks if you want to change, rather than just doing it automatically.

That actually seems like a better system anyway, there are some roads where I always stick to the speed limit and some... where I have a more relaxed attitude :)

Has anyone made a video of Innodrive in action?
I'll try to get my son to make one while I drive this week. I have been an adaptive cruise control aficionado for years; I use it in town and on the highway. I'm trying to embrace innodrive and active lane when on well-marked highways. Innodrive is slightly more awkward than ACC even as I disregard detected speed limits. I haven't investigated to see how you accept a new speed limit when notified. I get some hesitations when approaching bends or when following poorly marked roads. It did identify a stop sign on my commute so maybe it's becoming aware!?

There is one from Germany - but not very explicit. Look up on YouTube the Autobahn Specialist
Thanks for the pointer, although I'll be honest there were several hours of Taycan videos which I browsed through but could not find where he was using Innodrive (I skipped all the night driving cause I assumed it doesn't work at night?).

Thank you! Those are exactly the kind of things I'd be interested in seeing. In this day and age I thought everything that could possibly be filmed would already be on Youtube.

I tried to turn speed signs of, but that is bad. Now the car does not detect and adjust according to the signs.
I think it works great with it turned on. The car will steer Inside the lane, keep distance to the car In front all the way to 0, and start again when the cars are starting to drive again. Every time the speed changes, the instrument cluster will turn the speed number blue and tell you that the speed is changed within 5 s. While it is blue you can easily change it up or down in speed. Normal color is Green.

I actually found it in the longer one where they were using it at nighttime. It's tougher to see and appreciate, but on the left gauge you could see the two green lines indicating the lane detection. Too bad it wasn't during the day. I'm hoping that someone on this forum can make a quick video soon!

To confirm the steering though, I keep reading descriptions on the official Porsche website "... when stuck in stop-and-go traffic at speeds up to 37 mph. Unlike at higher speeds, however, it does make steering inputs to keep you in your lane."

With active lane keep on (and your hand lightly on the steering wheel), will Innodrive continue steering at all speeds? Also, is it required that you have a destination plugged into the nav, or will it just auto-steer in your designated lane if there's no destination?

This very same "oopsy brake check" behavior was rampant in my former 2018 Panamera Turbo S e-Hybrid when InnoDrive was selected. It was a damn nuisance and a little bit dangerous. I fixed it in the Panamera using the same type setting as you point out.

'Twas easy for me to repeat disabling the Obey Speed Limits check box ..... before I took my first highway outing at 27 miles on the Odometer.

Auto steer is available at all speeds. Either with or without a destination programmed. With Innodrive on, the car will slow in traffic to a stop & resume when the car in front moves forward. In some occasions if your stopped for a longer period of time you need to tap the accelerator to release the auto hold, then Innodrive takes over again. Hope this helps.
