How many charge to 100%

Just curious on how many of you charge to 100% and how many to 85% on the daily?

Isn't that even the approach of the Taycan, considering, that there is a default profile which charges to 100%, but no default timer, which would limit the charge?
Well they explicitly have guidelines for “regular” charging, the Jaguar manual literally is silent and if you reach out to them they will say don’t worry about it. And there is no built in setting or ability to limit the charge from the car itself.

True and where Porsche really saw a problem is the DC charging by adding features.

Very interesting to see how it varies from brand to brand.

I charge to 85% but only when I reach a charge level of 40% or less, unless I know I may need more the next day. If going on a trip I set a timer to reach 100% at the time of departure.
I charge to 85% when needed and always run down below 20% before charging. If I am leaving car sitting for a few days or maybe a week or so, I will charge to 50% and unplug.

Always to 100% but NEVER daily! Why would anybody do that, unless you drive 300 miles every day?

I charge like twice a month.
Never have I gotten more than 242 miles on a single 100% charge. But on my summer schedule, I can drive 150 miles a day and I need to charge every night

Then you will have a lot of charging cycles, but you should still get a lot of miles with little degradation seeing that you charge slow over night...

What is your consumption?

i would think another reason for the 80 - 85% charge is leaving room for the re-gen’ energy. With 100% charge you would be using friction brakes and having dirty black wheels, as with IC cars. . .

Not in regular driving. Even with 100% (I live up a little mountain and always charge to 100%) there is still a little recup left. After driving like 10 miles, the recup is fully available.

After using the Taycan for a few weeks and being a tiny little bit disappointed about the range, I started wondering if charging to 85% is actually needed, given the fact that The battery is 93.4 kWh, of which 83.7 kWh is usable.

This means that I charge the battery to (85% * 83.7) / 93.4 = 76.2% of 93.4 kWh

If I would charge to 100% of 83.7, it would still be 83.7 / 93.4 = 89.6% of 93.4 kWh

Of course Porsche is advising 80% or 85% in various documents.

Any thoughts about this ?
I always charge to 100%, but then I only charge when empty.

In over a year and 11000 km I had 28 charging cycles.

Millions of EV owners in the future don't have a wall box at private parking spot. They will have similar charging profiles.

I've been told that 100% charge is really only 80% of the battery. And 85% charged is only 80% of that.....

not quite right, the 93 kw battery is about 84.x kw. I can't recall the numbers for the smaller battery.

regardless of what you've been told, it has been noted here and on other EV related sites many times ad nauseam that charging to 100% when you are not going to use the car is not good for battery health as is letting the car sit at lower than 20% of soc.

I charge to 85% 99% of the time. And I never let is sit lower than 20%.
