The dealer wanted $1250 to replace the cabin filter ( retail cost $150) and check my brake fluid level and check the battery cells ( 8 year warranty so this is a joke to pay to check). After doing a little research I changed the filter myself took less than 15 mins. The only good you tube tutorial I found is in Chinese but worth looking at.
Here are the steps if you like to do yourself its not difficult>
1. Order the filter replacement from Sunset Imports . Cost $69 (OEM filter)Part number 9A7-819-429
2. Look at above video
3. under the glove box using a flashlight you see 2 small pins holding the filter cover in place. Using a small tool remove the pins they come right out
4. Remove the plastic filter housing cover and the filter is inside a slot . Pay particular attention when removing the old filter how it fits inside the filter slot ( orientation)
5. The hardest part is getting the new filter into the filter slot. the way to do it is holding the filter in both hands press the sides in think of an accordion / press sides in then as filter goes in press down on a part the bulges out as you are inserting . Again this procedure makes it easy to install but there is little information exactly how to do . Again think of an accordion
6. reinstall the plastic filter housing cover, install the covering insert the 2 pins and you are done.
I was really surprised at all the leaves etc that were in the old filter

Out of interest - if you did this yourself did you just provide the receipt to Porsche to get the 2 year service light turned off or an inspection and effectively a stamp in the book ?

no..I simply told them I did it during the 2 year service..that's all it took (I don't worry about book stamping...)

On my taycan I never had a 2 yr Service light and I did inform the dealer I would do it myself. No stamp needed since this does not affect the warranty on the car

Not sure this is true see here :

"To benefit from the Porsche Warranty the Porsche Vehicle must from the Warranty Commencement Date receive all service interval work in conformity with the specifications of the service interval display and/or product manual (the “Owners’ Responsibilities”). A deviation from the specifications is harmless, provided that the deviation from the specified service intervals in terms of time does not exceed one (1) month and in terms of the mileage of the vehicle does not exceed one thousand (1,000) kilometers. In the event of a greater deviation, Porsche shall be released from its obligations under the Porsche Warranty, unless the warrantee proves that non-compliance with these specifications did not cause the warranty claim."

Just did this with the help of OP's linked video and instructions below

Porsche Taycan How to Replace the cabin filter in your Taycan 1722391738566-s3

For step 2A, the fasteners are pushpins instead of screws.
For step 3A, there were no screw fasteners on mine, just held in with 3B clips.

A few notes
  • Getting air filter back in can be tricky, just keep flattening and jiggling the air filter while pressing up. There is not much resistance once flattened and correct orientation
  • The OEM filter from FCP (Hengst E4979LC) physically fits but the air flow is direction indicated is reversed from OE so exchanged it for Porsche OE filter (Part 9A7819429)
  • Old vs New at 2 years/19k miles. Will likely be shortening the interval

@beefster, great details on the post. I have settled on every 6 months or 5k miles type interval since the moisture in the filter builds mold and that is what you are breathing. I used to do it every year before each service but the filters were too dirty so I cut that interval in half. I am not sure why they recommend every 2 years which is clearly too long for a disposable paper filter that absorbs moisture and builds mold in no time.

Something like this should be better than OEM: 2 Pcs Activated Carbon Filters

I bought the cabin air filters from Pelican Parts for under $20 each.
To reset the service indicator I pay the dealer for an "inspection" to reset the service indicator ($180) after showing the receipts for the parts. I do the brake flush myself.

Replaced Cabin Filter DYI. 9k miles and very dirty, so plan to check after 5k more.
I had no issue fitting these. Correct size, looks identical, and air flow direction is correct.
Activated carbon kind qty of 2 for $27 and free shipping.

how are the a-premiums holding up? Curious why it's so cheap vs other 3rd party version from Hengst
