My 2022 Taycan sport turismo failed to charge when I plugged it in last week. It kept on saying initialising and the indicator light turned red subsequently. Called porsche assistance who said that it is a software defect. I took the car to porsche Reading where they checked both charging ports and said that it was not charging and the HV charger has an internal fault and needs replacing. I am not sure how long this is going to take. I have been given a loan car Macan petrol. Has anybody had any similar issues recently. I have not seen this recently in the taycan forum.

Hi,

Very common issue.
Search OBC or onboard charger in the forum.
Mine was already replaced twice and the last time it took 3 days only to have the car back.

More common to have the 22kW charger fail than the main HV circuitry but it could be either. I had mine fixed in a few days. Depends on the workload at the OPC. Call them and ask.

Note that if you get this symptom when doing DC charging and it is a software problem, it can fix itself after the car has been shut for an hour. You didn't say whether you were AC or DC charging. Presumably it's more severe if your OPC has taken it in for service.

I was using the AC charging at home but it was tested at the Porsche centre and it failed from both ports.

I had my OBC replaced last week. My car had stopped charging on AC, so I took it to Porsche for a diagnostic. They identified the issue as a faulty OBC and informed me it needed to be replaced.

They ordered the replacement part from Germany, which arrived in two days. Once the part was in, they took my car and completed the repair within seven hours.

However, your experience might differ depending on whether the dealership has the OBC in stock. If they need to order it, the wait time will depend on shipping availability. In my case, it was a quick two-day turnaround.

Thanks for all the comments. The HV charger is on back order and I am waiting for confirmation from Porsche as to when it will arrive and be fitted.

On the app hit the little car in the garage at the top/right of the home page, then under your car "More details", then "Technical details". If you have the 22kW charger it's listed under "Included options"; you'll see the 11kW charger under "Standard equipment" in any case.

Thank you. I have the 22KW charger which unfortunately is not supposed to be great.

it will last longer if you don't push it to it's full abilities - charging at less than 22 kW should greatly extend it's useful life…that's based on tear-down and failure analysis

22 kW is overkill for most daily driving tasks and you should be able to easily run at 1/2 capacity and charge the car overnight for virtually any normal usage.
