I'm seeing some inconsistent behavior with regenerative breaking in my 2025. Sometimes when I start driving in Normal mode, it's enabled and sometimes it's not. There doesn't seem to be any partner to when this is the case. When it is enabled, the car isn't letting me disable it.

Does anyone know how to force it off entirely?

I've not noticed any difference in behaviour vs my Gen1. Regen is off for the first few applications of the brakes after the car has sat for about 12 or 24 hours (cleaning function) then regen is on all the time.

It is not possible to turn regen off.

There is a 'brake cleaning' function in one of the menus that you can force regen off for a short period so that the mechanical brakes are used.

Do you see this on the main display with the regen light? I got a MY 2025 a month ago and haven't seen the regen light come on yet. I have about 450 miles on the car so it may not be active yet.

Regen was off by default when I picked mine up. The shortcut button is supposed to enable it, and it was set to regen, however it did not work. I went into settings and changed it to something else, then back to regen and since then I have been able to turn it on and off as expected. There was no period of waiting etc. It seems there is a bug in the shortcut buttons, and toggling the settings resolves it.

Make sure you aren’t confusing Regenerative Braking, and lift-off recuperation.

Reg braking is always on, except for the first few minutes after a cold start, so ensure any surface rust and dirt is wiped off the rotors. You can tell via the powermeter, if it’s sweeping anticlockwise green, then it’s doing regen braking.

you can turn on and off a small amount of regen when lifting off throttle to simulate engine braking. You’ll still see this on the power meter, as a smal static block of green.

Yes, you see regen as a green anti-clockwise sweeping animation in the powermeter. There is no light or indication to say that regen is 'on' because it is active all the time (apart from the first few stops after you start the car from cold/overnight). If the car is new then regen only starts working after a certain amount of braking (i.e. once they are bedded in). If your 450miles have been motorway with little braking you may need to wait a little longer or do some heavy braking from high speed.
