Hi All,

Excited to be the part of the fam.
I bought a new Taycan Base.

I wanted to know if there are in must have upgrades I should do?

Do’s and Dont’s?

Should I install a level 2 charger at home?

Any information would be helpful.

Thank you.

Very nice! Looks like my car just newer. I would suggest a ceramic coating which is very easy to do by yourself, replace the yellow side markers with smoke colored ones($100) and easy to do yourself, dashcam (I have the fitcam and there are no wires or any obstructions in your front window)and good floor mats. I personally do like carpet mats and prefer the all weather ones. Many good options to pick from. You can find threads on all of these topics on the forum. Enjoy your new car

I strongly suggest you install a level 2 charger at home. It should be much cheaper than public charging, and you may find yourself rarely/never using public charging due to at-home charging. It's one of the biggest blessings of EVs!

Don’t bedazzle your Porsche. Do set yourself to charge where you sleep.
Otherwise, have fun.

Agreed. But don't do it yourself unless you're a qualified electrician. I hired one, and he installed a good-quality NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage for under $700 (14-50R actually, where R stands for 'receptacle').

Also, I have solar panels with a 7.6 kW inverter. I charge my Taycan from ~9 AM to ~3 PM. I set the Porsche Mobile Charger Plus (it came with my Taycan, and yes there are better chargers out there as you'll see on other threads) to 50% so it charges at 4.5 kW while my solar panels are generating more than that.

I live in Texas. Any recommendations on level 2 chargers? Which one to get? Or I should just find the EV Charger setup company and use them. No idea which one to get. For my f150 lightning, qmerit helped me.

Maybe I was sold a bill of goods by my detailer, but my understanding was that applying an industrial-strength ceramic coating evenly and effectively required a practiced pro.

A professional SiC application does require some knowledge, I think a heat gun (and/or infrared cure? I dunno, google it), maybe some other tools, specific product, etc. You can buy loads of different SiO2 containing products and just buff them into the car's surface for good beading/protection for a few weeks per application. SiC bond differently and are more durable while SiO2 are going to sit on top of the clearcoat.

For 'upgrades' to your car, it isn't a car that needs much upgrading. Some people like to swap the side signal lights and puddle lights. There is a phone charger you can swap in to one of the cup holders if that's your thing - I opted for a 3d printed dongle with a mag charger that clamps to the side of the climate control screen.

For tuning, MapEV is popular (and the owner posts a lot here). I bought a dragy dongle to mess around with actual data for driving performance on backroads. Radar detectors are also not uncommon. I haven't found a need to want to upgrade much of anything in my 4s so far - just a better place to attach/charge my phone, dragy for data and a radar detector being shipped to save me a ticket when cruising on empty highways.

The "application" of the ceramic coating is not complicated and the product the detailers use anyone can purchase. It's the polishing and preparation of the paint with an orbital polisher which takes about 2 hours. That prep labor is most of what you are paying for when having it done by a detailer. I already had a orbital polisher and prefer doing things myself when feasible. If the car like the OP's is brand new there should be minimal polishing required if any. There are many videos how to do it yourself put out by the ceramic companies. I watched several and my car came out great with no high spots. I really enjoy detailing my car and always wash it myself but not everybody wants to spend hours doing this stuff.

Do I need to take it to the dealership to get it replaced? I am sure they have the part.

I bought it at Sun Coast Auto Parts and installed myself. It's not difficult, and there are YouTube videos for it.
They also sells a lot of accessories on Sun Coast.
