Seems a bit steep for a loan car during warranty work, right? When it comes to financial matters, it's always helpful to have a knowledgeable advisor in your corner. On a related note, if you're in the York area and looking for expert advice on mortgages or financial planning, you might want to check out Mortgage Advisor York. They've got a great reputation for offering valuable insights and support.

In my experience, if you want a loan car for warranty work then either:

Book the repair via the sales guy you used especially if the car is still pretty new. Relies on them being good and your relationship with them being good.
or
If the problem is 'potentially dangerous' then book your car in via porsche assistance. It will jump the queue and you automatically get a hire car foc. From memory the excess was £250.

Generally i wouldn't expect a loan car unless its some sort of 2 month fix type thing (never experienced fortunately), then it's up the chain to porsche rather than a dealer.

It sounds like there are a few different ways to secure a loan car for warranty work, depending on the situation and your relationship with the dealership.

It's always good to have options and know how to navigate these kinds of arrangements. When it comes to navigating financial decisions or mortgage-related matters, you might also consider reaching out to a Mortgage Broker in Cheltenham. They can provide expert advice to help you make informed choices. Here's to smooth rides and smooth finances!

My car has now been off the road for 2 weeks. HV battery recall and rear ‘dash’ cam dealer fitted. No loan car available.
Is this reasonable or am I right to be *issed off! Have had to take wife’s car to France for the week. Should I give them in Invoice???

There are options but I'm not sure you explored them. The HV Battery replacement doesn't mean you have to leave your car with the dealer. Instead you can use the car and bring it in once the battery becomes available. The car works fine in this state, but the cabin is a bit cooler (mitigated by seat and steering wheel heaters), and you can't pre-heat the HV battery prior to HVDC charging.

No criticism intended, but I think you got off on the wrong foot with the loaner insurance charge (reasonable in my mind), and that is getting carried over to this new service. I've found that if you treat your Service Advisor well, they will help you make the best of each situation.

I get on well with the Service Advisor I think but the Jury is out with the OPC. They appear to have a lack of facilities and no loan cars and when car ( and previous Taycan) goes it it seems to be hanging around for parts or the correct grade technician. Nearby Audi dealer we’ve used for over 25 years is so much better. I don’t want special treatment by the way and don’t think I’ve upset them apart from young sales guy who seemed really miffed I’d bought a 992 Turbo S elsewhere telling me I’d lose a place on GT3 list !!

Sounds like you are handling it as well as you can. Good luck and let us know when you get the car back.

Sales guys are generally jerks (not always, but mostly ?) so that experience sounds par for the course...

I do think it's worth recognising that the charge isn't for the loan of the vehicle, it's to reduce the insurance excess. They didn't make this clean until I came to pay, but suddenly all became clear.

I had the option of having the loaner for free, but the excess would have been £1500. The £15 reduced to something like £100
Is there a charge if you want to take a test drive with a view to potentially making a purchase?

Don’t give them ideas!!?
I was thinking more along the lines of booking a test drive in (overnight if necessary)...

If there isn't a charge then why is there one for courtesy cars but not for test drives?

Also, even if the charge is to reduce the excess, that should still be covered by Porsche, morally at least. They could cover it, in fact. It's just that they choose not to.

Warranty visits (many) should not imho incur a charge- however maybe routine service is different. Tempted to give them a bill for using another car for 2 weeks.

It does seem a bit puzzling that there would be a charge for booking a test drive, especially if it's for an extended period like overnight. Some companies indeed offer courtesy cars for free, while others charge for them. As for reducing the excess, it would be nice if Porsche covered it, at least morally. If you have any concerns or questions about these charges, you might want to reach out to Porsche directly for clarification on their policy. And if you ever need advice on financial matters, like car financing or loans, I usually consult with a Mortgage Broker in Market Weighton. They've been helpful in navigating such situations.
