Reading stuff like this, I fear for our species. Ten years from now it will be illegal to walk outside our homes, unless we're ensconced in bureaucrat-approved bubble wrap.

We're part way there already. Western society has become extremely risk averse. The speed-of-light global information exchange (a.k.a. the internet) is exposing people to extremely unlikely occurrences with bad outcomes, scaring the crap out of everyone. Evolution made us paranoid, but while that worked when our universe was limited to 100 mile radius of where we lived, this survival feature of our paranoia goes into overdrive when exposed to what happens every day to a few of 8 billion people. People freak out over the most minute risks, like "how could the FAA approve a plane which clearly states in the report that 2-3 planes will crash over the expected 60 year production period?". Add democracy (irrationally scared people voting) and legal liability (people litigating, paranoid and irrational juries awarding huge damages) to the mix., and we are where we are. My wife works in healthcare, the unnecessary and expensive tests and precautions which happen every day to guard against the most unlikely possibilities is staggering. Doctors prefer to order every test in the book rather than be potentially exposed to liability if the ultra unlikely thing is wrong with the patient. All this costs money, but more important clogs up the system which is already very strained.

Apparently this is normal evolution of a society. It grows fat and lazy, no longer having to worry about day to day existential problems, so it starts worrying about the most minute risks, and empathize with anything like worry about than whether plants feel pain when you harvest them, or send death threats to someone who setup a webcam on a birds nest, but did not prevent the mama bird from killing some of her offspring. The typical order of things is, the old and fat society is conquered by a new, hungry and lean society, which eventually grows fat and paranoid, then the cycle repeats. Hm.... perhaps I should sign my kids up for Chinese lessons - might become very useful for the next couple of hundred years.

I got my local garage to drop the bonnet back into place and if it wasn't for the permanent warning message on the dash, I'd probably just leave it at that.
How complex process the mechanical hinge reset was?

I have also bonnet popped by a deer and there is one week wait before local Porsche center get it officially fixed. Given the local weather my other vehicles, 20 yrs and 30 yrs old open top Ferraris don't make great daily drivers. And my wife selfishly wants to drive her own car....

A practical solution would be to drive around with Taycan a week with reseted bonnet and PPS warning on.

I didn't see the guy from the garage do it, but apparently it was a very simple job to get the bonnet closed. I drove it like that for a couple of weeks until the parts arrived from Porsche.

Thanks, chidd!

I studied in garage the system a bit an it looks like that the pyrotechnic actuator needs to be removed to get hinge to close. The hinge has two attachment points where pyrotechnic actuator is connected with 10mm bolts. The upper bolt is easy to access but the lower one will require a removing plastic panels.

(By the way, chidd, auto misspelling feature tries to turn your handle to "child" every time... )
