On my new 2023 Taycan they put a small plastic protector thick film behind the rear doors.
The edges pick up dirt and to be honest it looks like crap. I have expel on the front and ceramic on the rest. Has anyone removed this from there car , I figured it might take paint off if I removed them but not sure. Tone clear this is about a 12 inch by 10 inch piece in front of rear tires.

Your PPF installer would probably be a good person to remove it and replace it with something that covers the whole panel.

They put this on many Porsches from the factory. I wouldn’t recommend taking it off until you are ready to put something in its place. It does reduce paint damage despite its appearance.

I decided to fully PPF my car because there is no obvious place to stop the film in the rear.

I had this on the Macan and it yellowed out over time. My PPF installer removed it and replaced it with XPEL and it looks invisible and does not collect any dirt on the edge. They put cheap stuff.

Taycan due in May, so will ask to remove it and replace.

yes they removed mine before PPF installation. I wished they put it back on because after 10.000 the PPF looks old already. Without it the paint will be more damage that it will be on the front bumper without ppf. Amazing amount of gravel are flying there.

When discussing PPF with my SA, they recommended that even if I had nothing else PPF'd, I should replace that factory standard piece with a full-panel piece, as many of the cars they were getting back as trade-ins were needing a respray because of paint damage around the original piece.

Standard on many Porsche models for years now and intended to minimise stone chips / road rash.

Doubt you'll damage the paint and your PPF folk should be able to manage.

I just noticed that this clear plastic sticker is only on the passenger side rear door.... nothing on the drivers side.

You can order a brand new pair from Suncoast for around $50. When I purchased my 2022 CPO last year they were slightly yellow. Only because my car was white was it noticeable. They had several scratches and dents where they did their job protecting the paint. I removed them with a steamer and put the new ones on. Super easy and videos are online. As others have said either replace with new ones or PPF the whole panel because that flared out area is prone to abuse.
