Porsche Taycan Poll: Overrun Recup Settings B19A0D66-7738-457C-8E54-7FFCD02A8E14

I was driving home today and actively flipping the overrun recup on and off and was just wondering how other people are using it.

I think it’s a really great tool; I just wish it was slightly easier to reach. I have to shift my hand slightly to reach it.

I generally drive with it off and turn it on to control speed when:
  1. Going down a hill
  2. Speed limit decreases
  3. General traffic speed decreases
  4. “Accidentally” sped up too much
I generally find that “on” is just about right for dealing with most of those things. But then I turn it right back off because I generally prefer the coasting.

Here's what I wish we'd see in an EV platform:
I will we could see paddle shifting of recoup aggressiveness, which would effectively allow a more natural 'manual' style driving to modulate the level of recuperation similar to controlling engine braking with a manual gearbox.

I love the Taycan, but damn if I don't miss the control of the vehicle through engine braking and downshifting when driving fun twisty roads (not enough to want to drive something else right now, but still miss it :) )

I have the 4S and a model 3. I prefer the coasting + regen and brake blended in the pedal (Taycan) rather than the one pedal driving (Tesla). In terms of efficiency, the 4S matches exactly the P85D I used to have - also very similar weight and power. So my guess is that from an efficiency standpoint one pedal braking and blended braking are the same.....

I never use it. I really like the normal pedal/brake setup on the Taycan. For me either it's FULL one pedal driving, which the Taycan doesn't offer, or FULL normal setup. I'm not a big fan of the in between stuff.

And one thing the Taycan doesn't get enough credit for is how exceptional the brake feel is. It's a consistent problem in EVs but the Taycan has beautiful brake feel.

I love the coasting (and find the recuperation when lifting off in my wife's X5 hybrid annoying).
