Are you referring to the Gtechniq Platinum treatment?

I have it on both my Porsches (sorry, not bragging) and have used it on prior ones.

Always negotiate and aim to get it for much less. You will also receive a car care kit + 2 yr treatment warranty.

I think it is worth having than not - treats exterior, interior and the wheels.

My only niggle is that the detailers who do it at the dealers are often over committed and sometimes don't do a perfect job. My GTS ST (new in March) needed some re-work during customer pickup and then a week after when the sun came out I noticed the inside of the windows had basically been cleaned with a dirty cloth (not impressed). My wife's Macan (2 weeks ago) was better prepared.

I've been offered Gtechniq Platinum treatment for £1099, SA has gone away to "see what he can do" because I'd originally haggled free autoglym treatment without the care pack but they;ve since switched to Gtechniq. Either way, having read reviews on these forums and the internet in general I'll 100% be going with it (suspect it delays handover for a few days?)

I think all Porsche dealers offer the same service.

When combined with Alloy wheel & tyre insurance + GAP insurance you can get the same service for around £250(ish).

Threaten to get GAP elsewhere and that will sharpen their minds.

My 3 nearest dealerships offer different products- perhaps in line with the preferred provider of the owning overall dealer group (which might typically have multiple marques in a region).

The GTechniq application service the dealers offer is vastly inferior to what you would get from a dedicated detailing company. The fact that they have so much margin to play with is testament to that.

It really is the same old “Supaguard” con of old but with a sexier name.

My car is currently with my local detailer. Been using them for years and their work is unparalleled. Went in on Monday and won’t be ready for me to collect till Saturday. There’s no way the OPCs are spending a similar amount of time on them.

GTechniq is a great brand with excellent products but I’m just not convinced that the OPCs are doing as thorough a job. Especially as it’s the machine polishing stage prior to coating application that’s the most important and time consuming part of the job.

Having said all of that, there is an option for PPF listed on some used cars on the approved used Porsche site and the "body-care" in question could be that, rather than GTechniq coating.

My OPC offered free full Body Care package but that is more like Supaguard and not proper ceramic glass coating etc, They also offered £799 for Gtechniq full package (best price they could do), and it’s done by specialist independent detailer that they have contract with, so not at OPC centre, which is the proper job - right?
£899 is far too cheap for that job to be done properly and for them to make a decent margin on it. They push it heavily alongside their insurance products. Going rate for a car that size directly with a detailer is about £1000. There are "detailers" out there that advertise 10 year ceramic coatings for £400. What are they actually doing for that money? Just dripping it onto a sponge and wiping it across the car? The prep is key.

My local bodyshop is quoting £1140 for gtechniq (paint, glass, wheels, interior) which (currently, pre-haggling) is the same as the dealer. Probably a better job. My issue is whether I can bare to pick up the car and then hand it over for another week after such a long wait, or whether to just trust the dealer will do a fairly ok job and then just collect already done (admittedly still with a delay, but without having to give it away again after).

Your local detailer is going to charge you the same price whether it comes directly from the dealer to him or whether you drive it around for a couple of months. Might as well get your money's worth out of the polishing stage.

I normally get my cars and run then for a few months before I put them, in. Mine has been in at my local detailer since Monday. I get it back on Saturday morning.

I'm paying £1200 for the whole car, exterior and interior. Two stage machine polish and Carpro CQuartz Finest Reserve on the exterior, along with a dedicated coating product for the textured plastics and a full interior protection treatment.

I've used this chap for years. Hes been around for decades and he's one of the best in the business.

£800 odd quid for some random company and for the OPC to take a cut as well? No thanks.

I hadn't clocked that it doesn't need doing immediately. Local guy (who comes HIGHLY recommended) will do his "new car package" for cars up to 6 months old. In that case I'm very tempted to enjoy the car for the summer and book it in when the weather turns

To fully correct, their list price is £1200, but managed to haggle it down to £799. They are confirmed Gtech authorised detailed - rest I have no clue but hoping I can trust them to do it properly- will let you know afterwards 😬
Difference is all of that £800 is going to them and they have the GTechniq accreditation, which means they're using a professional GTechniq product instead of one that anyone can buy off the net. I'm not saying thats the case with what the OPCs are offering but at least you know exactly what you're getting and who's doing it.

Doesn't need doing immediately. The car will be waxed by the dealer and that'll last a while. Personally, I applied a coat of Fusso Wax myself, the weekend I got it.

Also it's not like PPF, don't let anyone try to tell you that ceramic coatings protect against physical damage like stone chips. They don't. As part of the prep. process the detailer needs to machine polish the car. Your detailer is probably offering a "new car" price based on how much polishing he thinks will be required (which is likely to be less on 6-month-old paint than it is on 6 year-old paint)

Mine doesn't offer that, he charges £550 for a two stage machine polish (on its own), regardless.

In terms of waiting till after the summer and enjoying it for a few months first, that's EXACTLY what I'd do.

I was thinking of doing the same, getting the car asap and then having it detailed and coated in 5-6 months in time for winter.
