We recently spent a week driving the glorious North Coast 500. On the way home, we used a third party charger near Loch Lomond. The charging stations were all new and we were able to charge at 150kWh. There was no minimum stay, and the following day we had a long drive, so I left the car to charge overnight.

I checked the app and Porsche have charged me £225.22 for a top up of 5kWh. I complained to Porsche Customer Relations. They informed me that per the the terms and conditions of my service agreement, the charge is set at £0.31 per kWh, with an additional rate of £0.33 per minute applicable when using a 150 kW charger.

Ouch!

So you needed to charge 5kWh on a fastcharger and decided to hog the charger for 12 hours?
The same like going to a gas station and then parking the car at a pump over night pretty much.

I'd say lesson learned here. You don't leave your car overnight at a petrol pump, so don't do that with a fast charger. They all have inactivity fees for that reason.

This makes no sense. You charged a total of 5 kWh on a 150 kW ultra fast charger.

That would take around 2 or maybe 3 minutes. But you left it connected overnight ?

What did you expect!! ?

The per-minute pricing is there to prevent people parking up and leaving connected to the charger longer than necessary, so it's done its job. But a nasty shock indeed.

It's a DC rapid. Not an AC charger.

Chargers in Scotland, north of the central belt are few and far between. Sitting on a fast charger overnight is not the thing to do. What possessed you to do that? It's bad enough to do that in areas where there are lots of chargers - but up here? No.
Sorry but that earns you my 'Plonker of the Week' award.

Think you’re probably right

OP reads like they registered just to give us that little tidbit of info. Either it’s a windup or they’re a stereotypical middle-aged Porsche owner that’s just stepped into an EV for the first time ever.
