Porsche Connect offers nothing premium
What more do you expect from the Connect Service?
Everything is there, SoC, timer/profiles, preheating/cooling, even zones, carfinder, navigation planning, chargers, car information, consumption, miles driven, etc.
It's all there.
And most importantly: it's working all the time (that was way different a few years back).

If you buy a premium brand you pay premium prices.

It's as simple as that.
You think Ferrari, Lamborghini or Bugatti offers more and is less expensive?
If you want bang for buck you buy Kia or some other Chinese/Korean product.
They are unbeatable but no, you want to drive a Porsche so you pay Porsche prices.
That's it, deal with it (or don't).
And if you think the price isn't right, cancel the subscription.
What a useless discussion...
Some people just want to argue on forums all day long but forget what a great car it is with all the app functionality you need.

Only person arguing is you, everyone else is giving their alternate point of view. The discussion may be useless to you but you’re very welcome to stop responding to every counter-opinion with another repeat of yours.

Forums are for debate and discussion, ideally politely and remembering that not everyone shares the same point of view

There's an irony in your comment.
I just give my opinion.
You just don't like it, that's all. 😉

No, I totally respect your opinion and in fact if you search my previous posts I’ve actually echoed it numerous times before, and people haven’t liked it. If you buy a 100k car you can’t moan at the ongoing costs.

I also don’t believe that Connect is a premium product. And I also don’t believe this is a useless discussion.

Holy mother of numerous viewpoints Batman

Like I asked a former member, what do you expect from a "Premium" Connect Service then?
For the service to have 99.99% uptime like the majority of cloud services. It’s consistently not available in the UK (check the U.K. sub forum). That’s all.

I am jealous you have the one Taycan in the world for which the app works every time. Mine doesn't, almost every day it tells me my car is unlocked or windows are open even though that is not true (I checked every time, what a waste of time). It told me this past week that it cannot pre-condition the car, even though the car is parked in my home garage with a femto-cell (miniature cellular tower) located 4 feet above the car (so the car shows full cellular signal strength whenever I check in in PCM - that femto cell is on dual ISP, one fiber optic and one cable-modem so it has never been out of service for years). Oh, I did find blinking the turn signals (via the app) tends to fix the car unlocked or windows open warnings about 80% of the time - isn't it fascinating how blinking turn signals closes windows and locks the car doors? What a design by Porsche. I wish they would put it in the user manual - "in order to close windows and lock doors, turn your hazard lights on for one cycle".

If it was a premium product they would not have changed the contract for new cars to a much longer Porsche connect subscription. I think its 8 or 10y now.

The product is utterly mediocre.

I have now also realised that not having Connect means the Porsche Nav has limited functionality - the car's internet connection is severely limited so no live charging stations or Google search. So that's pretty much decided it for me - without Connect too many key features of the car won't work;
1) No Remote climate
2) No app based info like battery level, locked status, location etc
3) No integration with smart charging services like OVO or Octopus (so charging cost increases)
4) No in-car internet based services like Calendar, statnav searching etc

You could get by without these but there doesn't seem much point, it's fundamentally restricting functions you bought when you chose the car.

Exactly this - I've just begrudgingly renewed Connect because Remote Climate and app based control are key reasons why I enjoyed moving to an EV, and almost all my charging is done at home using OVO so I need the car to be online to benefit from much cheaper electricity rates.

On a recent trip to Europe I used the remote monitoring a lot to monitor charge progress while at service stations etc.

I decided that if I was to try to make a point by not paying, it would only be my experience of the car that suffers. Nobody else would notice other than me suffering.

The problem is the pricing for Connect is premium pricing, but due to depreciation on the Taycan (mostly due to faults and the cars bad reliability reputation) they are no longer expensive cars once 3+ years old.

Taking a bath on the depreciation is one thing. Having Porsche rub your face in it by charging excess for a decidedly sub par product is another.
They should be offering it for free/less as a gesture of goodwill for all the problems (eg Satnav in Europe/blank screens etc).

Having had to pay subscriptions for our Teslas and then our Mercedes EQB for similar reason I’m used to it so wasn’t surprised myself. Price of admission I guess.

Tesla now requires subscriptions even for basic ADAS such as lane keeping. Not all countries yet. I'm sure it has at least something to do with Elon's $1t pay package target of active FSD subscriptions.
