yes and no. Before looking ahead on an actual drive you punch in the destination (even if you know it by heart you want to know traffic usually). So in steps its: wait for PCM to finish booting, establish connection with the phone, start Carplay, Start waze/maps, punch in the destination (either manually or quick search etc) - in case at any of these steps your PCM is lagging, you're losing time and gaining frustration. Then at an HPC charging stop you might want to check out some YouTube or other content - can absolutely do it through the phone, but the larger display of the car is just so much more appealing.why so excited to have the pcm updated like the restyling?! just curious to know people's fantasies!
everyone uses the car in a different way, but I reckon most of the time we look ahead..not on screens..probably it's me..unless I'm using the Tesla so my freeway drive it's like a brunch with friends!
On 911s too - probably across the range in fact.Big Issue: The article says Porsche Connect is now standard for new Taycans for 10 years. You would think Porsche would back date this change for their existing Taycan customers. That is, if they wanted to earn our loyalty.
It will be interesting to see the pricing for existing users, I bet they keep it high!On 911s too - probably across the range in fact.
It has to be paid for so I suspect there'll be no extended period for J1.1 owners. Perhaps cam be negotiated as part of a 2nd hand purchase..
No android indeed by the looks of it, however if the Linux based is much snappier and has decent number of apps (incl Youtube, browser, ParkMobile which is very popular in EU, etc) then probably totally okay. I also see new "performance" section? (bottom left on screenshot below), or was this already part of the latest J1.2 updates? The 26 Taycan still doesn't have the new Android based infotainment like Macan EV. Just faster linux based
Performance is part of WRV3 UpdateNo android indeed by the looks of it, however if the Linux based is much snappier and has decent number of apps (incl Youtube, browser, ParkMobile which is very popular in EU, etc) then probably totally okay. This picture is from 3D view in the configurator. Not the articleWhere is this picture from?
edit: I just realised you zoomed in on the picture from the article ? definitely better eyes than mine, didn’t even notice it’s different than current pcm.
But I would imagine this is only concept art
Part of J1.2 either recently introduced or from launch. No android indeed by the looks of it, however if the Linux based is much snappier and has decent number of apps (incl Youtube, browser, ParkMobile which is very popular in EU, etc) then probably totally okay. Highly doubt that will be the case.
This is all for MY26 and is based on new PCM hardware (to align with Macan EV).
New OS based on Android Automotive is my guess.
