Level 2 I hope?
Admittedly as much time as I spent tracking the vessel, I didn’t spend that much time on watching charging videos. It was getting 6.6 kw and was plugged in for 17 mins 50 seconds. Went from 51% to 52%. I’ll be charging from home but I wanted to make sure I knew how to charge in the wild.
On a happier note though- here’s some more pics of my car.

Sounds like you had a frequently occurring EA charging issue?...... depending on your state of charge I would guess you should typically get between 30-50% increase in charge in 17 mins. if it was a 350W charger........
I just picked up the car two days ago and that was my first run at charging at a station. Maybe it was user error. If I need help in the future, I’ll jump over to the appropriate threads.

Great looking car btw. Love the blue and red contrast.
Mine hasn't arrived yet! Next week.
I've been madly reading up and watching YouTube videos on charging. It is a learning curve.
Check out "Out of Spec Motoring" and Kyle Conner and his Taycan videos on YouTube. Some are a little long but I found them entertaining and very informative on charging. There seem to be lots of little tricks and hacks, especially with DC fast charging at EA.
Enjoy the car!

That sounds like you were charging on a “level 2 charger”. They have a standard plug (like the one you got installed at home probably). It’s an AC charger.

It’s really comparable to plugging in at home.

In order to charge fast in the wild you’ll want to find a DC charging station that can deliver DC current and at a much higher output. E.g. 150kW or 350kW. They have a CCS plug that looks like this:

Oh, and your car looks stunning. Wife and I weren’t brave enough to go for Frozen blue when we ordered, but I have to say it has been growing on me…
Congrats!

This is exactly what happened. I found a fast charge station a few exits down the freeway so I’ll check that out soon. It’s a learning curve.

Great! You’ll learn really fast - and once you get used to it, it’s actually super simple and refreshing not to have to go to a gas station.

99% of your charging will probably just be plugging in the Taycan in your garage when you come back home.

Walmart has them if that helps. Get onto a 350 if youc an. The new models are plug and charge - if they dont work you have to do it the old way from the app manually
Make sure its one of the 'Free' stations. It wil come up on yor Porsche Connect app if it is. You can get either 20 or 30 mins free at any one charge. 20 mins should give you an 80% charge The are Electrify America charging stations. Walmart has them if that helps. Dont forget the right port is for fast and the left for home 240 charging - they are different shape plugs which helps

I was using the 350 kW charger at EA this morning. The temp of the battery was very cold and I only got about 60 kW max the whole time.

I borrowed this from one of our “stickies” in the charging section. This should give you an idea of what to expect. Was your 60kW consistent with the graph?

You have a new battery and you need to ignore the miles its telling you to begin with. Drive it a while and you will see that you get more miles that it says and that will increase over the next weeks. When it comes off charge it can fluctuate. This car got 231 first charge from the dealership and immediately dropped to 200 when I drove it out of the showroom. My other car gets into the 280's just be patient. The reading that it gives you is based on your driving prior to it going on charge, as it never been driven its expect to be low. Take it out for about an hour on the freeway and then charge it and see how it is.

The rated miles have nothing to do with charging speed at a given battery temperature and SoC…

Is anyone else that got dropped off in Benicia still showing “Port Processing”? My TYD shows port processing complete but according to TYD and my SA the car is not on a truck yet. With the snow and the Christmas break, that’s not surprising - but I’m getting impatient with the car so close, yet so far away… :)
