That's not the impression I got at all. Any porsche dashcam is going to be expensive with or without pre-wiring as apparently the pre-wire is in the fusebox, not near the roof/headliner. Dealer is most likely going to charge you a hand full of work hours to install one regardless. The price of the OEM dashcam isn't cheap either.If I understand what others have said, aftermarket is significantly more expensive than pre-wired, isn't it?
Personally I'm going for aftermarket (non porsche branded dashcam) because they offer more functions, have better image quality (if you go 4k) and most of them have a smaller footprint then the OEM dashcam.

I tend to keep cars for around 10 years, so I'm sure I'll be fine. I am after all coming from a low-end cloth CR-V. My wife's cars have always been the ones with leather.
