If I understand what others have said, aftermarket is significantly more expensive than pre-wired, isn't it?
That's not the impression I got at all. Any porsche dashcam is going to be expensive with or without pre-wiring as apparently the pre-wire is in the fusebox, not near the roof/headliner. Dealer is most likely going to charge you a hand full of work hours to install one regardless. The price of the OEM dashcam isn't cheap either.

Personally I'm going for aftermarket (non porsche branded dashcam) because they offer more functions, have better image quality (if you go 4k) and most of them have a smaller footprint then the OEM dashcam.

Ahh I did some research after your post and it looks like indeed aftermarket is the way to go. Thanks! I will definitely do that.

I’m in a slightly different position as i got a cancelled order so i didn’t spec my own car…

what i would have changed :

1. Remove passenger display
2. Remove rear seat heating
3. Add adaptive cruise control
4. Add rear axle steering
5. Add bike rack option
6. Add roof rails

All quite minor so quite happy on the whol…. Wouldn’t have necessarily picked Crayon/Chalk but i really love it now and would probably get this colour again.

My 4s is perfect, 2 possible upgrades
plastic b pillars to racetex or leather (steering wheel is racetex carbon too. Interior is full leather)
Replace silver 4s logo on trunk with black (it’s the only silver part on my 4s) black on black looks more aggressive.

But I still think I chose right for my personality with Volcano Grey. Red with gloss black wheels looks oh so good though.
It's everyone's own subjective opinion of course, but maybe this helps: I think black wheels look weird on anything else but dark cars. The contrast makes it look like the wheels are missing.

Basically reminds of a 90s car where the hubcaps fell off: https://static1.polytrendy.com/sd582a0d5a831a3cb0e2b.jpg

With dark colored cars it's fine, as without the contrast you still see the details.

Just feel like giving my perspective, all subjective as always:

what i would have changed :

1. Remove passenger display
I don't know, it's kind of fun. But necessary, no.

2. Remove rear seat heating
I have family traveling in the back, so while they don't need it, they appreciate it.

3. Add adaptive cruise control
Unless it's not a daily driver, ACC is a very good idea.

4. Add rear axle steering
It's amazing how tightly you can U-Turn on the street with that. I would not have specced it myself I think, but I'm glad mine came with it. I impress my wife with it.

5. Add bike rack option
Not for me, but I get it.

6. Add roof rails
Again not for me at all, but I get it.

What is the passenger display fun for? I.e. what can the passenger do with it? I have it (came in a package), none of my passengers can do much with it, as there isn't really much you can do on it. I thought it might be cool for them to be able to see the night-vision, but that is not supported for passenger display (only instrument cluster). What fun applications of the passenger display am I missing?

if I was functional as an extra display when driving without a passenger it would have been something as an extended screen. I leave mine off mostly even when I have a passenger I don’t need my wife to speed check me.

Heh have your kids played with it yet? Unexpected downside... my daughter linked up her Spotify on her first ride and was having a blast with it. Last week I got in the car and decided to set up Apple Music through the PCM to try to compare the sound and usability to Carplay. As usual, I'm tapping around trying to find the Apple Music selection and I guess accidentally had it on Spotify for a bit. Once I started driving I saw a flurry of texts come in from her which I ignored because my music was too loud to listen to Siri plus no one can ever understand all her typos and emojis anyway. Once I was parked I read them and it was her freaking out that my car zapped her connection to Spotify at school. I guess she could actually hear her teachers and friends talking to her now? The horror!

Only a few weeks of ownership, but so far some stuff I didn't think I wanted I am enjoying and stuff I insisted on I haven't used or don't like (that thing that controls my speed... SA was right that no one likes that :)).

And P.S. @gryphon99 , I know you will be thrilled with your car very shortly, so I will take this opportunity to say that yes, you should have gotten leather ? . But I know you won't care once you fall in love with your beauty!

ooophhhffff! The downside of not having any Taycans to look at in person when I ordered  I tend to keep cars for around 10 years, so I'm sure I'll be fine. I am after all coming from a low-end cloth CR-V. My wife's cars have always been the ones with leather.

Lol, my daughter foresaw the problem. I told her she could setup her Spotify, she said no thanks, that she only has a one device subscription and didn't want to lose it on her phone.

I usually drive in silence, one of the great benefits of an EV. It does have a drawback though of learning about all the noises the car makes, like an annoying high pitch noise at 50mph if in first gear (switching driving mode to normal and back to sport fixes it, as it causes the gear to shift to 2nd). I still prefer silence majority of the time. I might actually listen to music more if the car remembered the audio source selection (like FM radio) between drives, but Porsche wisdom apparently is to always start in silence. ?‍♂

Oh I'm kidding, you're gonna go crazy when you see your car. I'm just a leather lover (prob like your wife). I'm starting to miss that burgundy velour my dad had in his bespoke Buick in 1984 though... it was a big step up from the boiling hot shiny vinyl of the previous Buick. Honestly, as long as whatever synthetics used in a Taycan aren't referred to as "vegan" I'm happy. I've now made it a rule that when shopping, as soon as a description refers to "vegan leather" I'm not buying it. I'm also not eating it.

I'm having doubts right now. Everything was fine until I learned the car has been produced.
Now having multiple doubts about my choices ?
1) should have gone with the configurator's 21 inch options instead of aftermarket?
2) maybe full leather wouldn't have been a bad idea (despite dismissing it after burning my behind multiple times in other full leather cars I owned over the years)
3) I ALWAYS wanted volcano grey because my last 6 cars have always been black. All family cars are black. We just like black cars. Did I do a mistake with grey?
4) Maybe I should have gotten the 4S albeit me thinking the rwd is already insanity price wise
5) air ventilated seats. WHY DIDN'T I SPEC THEM?
6) what if it's a lemon? What am I gonna do? Maybe this whole thing was a mistake. And should have sticked to family mb tradition.
Anyway... I should have the car in a couple of weeks. Let's see...

Then it’s not your fault, and you’re going to deal with it. Not worth contemplating until you find out.

You’re going to love it when it arrives. Especially the color.
