Hi

I am new to the forums and read all the great advice

I am just specing out a Taycan 4s

I just wanted advice on the electric sound - does it amplify the sound in and out or just inside

is this something people get tired of quick and it becomes an annoyance or does it sound good and kept in quite often ?
Is it worth it in people’s view on an electric car
It's a trademark feature of the Taycan. You should definitely get it. You'll probably end up programming it onto the little diamond on the steering wheel and you'll turn it on when you want an extra little touch to the futuristic character of Taycan's remarkable performance. It's a natural partner to spirited driving. Of course you can program it to be off unless you turn it on . It does turn on when you switch to Sport Plus, but still allows you to flick it off.

At least this is how it works in a Turbo S, and I feel our car would be incomplete without it.

I understood it as being the same price. It was one of the items I talked about to the dealer when purchasing a car in their showroom rather than an own configuration. I understood it could be added afterwards at the price of the option (via the connect store I assumed).
Sorry, as noted by others, they misinformed you. It is quite costly to do a retrofit. Two separate dealerships quoted around Cdn$900 for the part and 9-11 hours of labour. Someone posted the work procedure on here to install it. Need to take out back seats, both back door panels, trims in the trunk and attach three speakers (one in each rear doors) and one outside and a few controllers plus reprogramming. I would spec it as part of the build.

Ok, Thx. I stand corrected.

We have ordered four bespoke Porsche’ since MY2012 - all with every lighting option. None are bright enough for us old farts in any storage area.
I assume without the ambient you still get the standard led lights lighting up all the same areas but it’s just that you can’t change the colours ?

You may be correct. I recall some door lights (puddle) were added in the US.

Thanks - another quick one on the ambient lighting - looks good from what I have seen on other posts but wandered whether the standard light was good enough and lights up all the same areas ?
Again I’d say 100% yes for the £300 or so. Adds colour choices and lights up various areas inc cupholders. Looks very cool.

I have it, and use it occasionally when I just feel like having some sound. Normally the total silence of the Taycan without it or radio is nice.

Do you have to have sports plus with the sports chrono pack for the electric sound to come out or does that not matter

I am getting electric sound but not sports chrono pack but I assume I can still get the full sound out without the sports plus mode by turning it on ?

I read that (I don't have sports sound) that in sports plus mode, the sports sound is louder than in sport or normal...

Yes, that is true on our Turbo S.

I’ve had my car for 3 months. I’ve switched the sound on every time I get in the car. It sounds cool, and when you are in sport mode it actually sounds like you are changing down when you brake. Make sure you tick the option.

I’ve picked up my Taycan today ?

It was a cancelled order. I bought it before Brexit kicked in. I didn’t spec this car and I was going to have sports sound, on my original order. This car doesn’t have the sports sound. I thought that it was going to be something that I was going to regret not having but tbh the vehicle makes plenty of quirky electric sounds that sound great without them being amplified. I’m not at all disappointed. It is a really cool sound, just a little cooler when it’s louder. ?

That's good to hear Gary, I didn't bother with the sound either so good to note it's still a bit quirky regardless.

Many congrats on getting it, I know you've had some fun finding one!

Yeah. It’s been a fun search but I dropped on this one last Friday and drove it away today. Super quick and efficient staff at Wilmslow. Hats off to them.
