Anyone use a steering wheel lock? The bar-through-the-wheel type?

was thinking of the original stoplock - not sure it would fit

I hadn't seen a car with a through-wheel steering lock for ages then I saw one the other day on an Aston. It looked ugly as sin to be honest but it really stood out so would definitely make a thief think twice.

I got one of these to use when the car was left on the drive while away on hols. No idea how good they are, though reviews seem good and the car was still there when i got home. Fits the steering wheel (Sports chrono) and easy to use.

Haven't used it on a daily basis though and wondering if I should be and whether it should be on my car with keyless entry rather than Taycan without. Or both i guess.

Edit - Correction, I have the Pro, not the Pro-elite.

Bar-through-wheel locks are a waste of time and money. Any car thief worth his weight in horse manure knows to use a hacksaw to slice right through the steering wheel (not the hardened steel bar) to remove the bar. The best protection against theft has historically been a hidden kill switch.

I need to park my Taycan at the airport for a week and I was thinking about buying a steering wheel lock.
Reading the post above, I conclude that it is not a good enough solution.
What else is worth doing ?
Is a wheel lock worth buying ? Something else ?

Are steering locks with an alarm useful ?

Some thieves look for cars with a lock bar as the first car to break into because the lock bar doubles as a great crawbar to break the steering wheel locks or break into trunks and such. Carrying a crawbar is suspicious and can get them arrested, they prefer to find it at the “job site”. Removing a lock bar is nothing for a prepared thief. Small, battery powered device will cut through steering wheels quietly but effectively.

No thief that has done their homework will try to steal a long term parked taycan. The odds of the car starting with the original keys is low enough already if that 12V battery gets depleted 🤣

Now seriously... I can see someone breaking in to get something out of the car but nicking the whole thing? Doubt it.

I think I will go for a compact wheel lock.
Not 100% safe, but I hope it will at least slow down the process of stealing the car, to discourage doing it.
