I have a taycan turbo S which has a vibration through the steering wheel. It's been there since new. It's not wheel balance induced wheel shimmy and not caused by rotor/disc runout. The vibration is there at 40mph and more noticeable at 60mph. It feels like the vibration that you would get with a metal shaft running in a dry bearing, ie metal on metal. Will take it back to the dealer but was wondering if others have had this problem.

Are you running on 21”? I have a turbo that I got 20’s on and noticed something similar, when I put my HRE 21’s on, I felt it more. They can’t figure it out, but have to wait on a specialist after covid is what I am told.

I have the 21s and have not had this issue. What tires do you have on?

Hi - have you or Porsche managed to resolve this issue ? I have a similar problem with a very noticeable steering wheel vibration anywhere between 38 & 42 MPH (although not at the 60MPH speed you also mention). Porsche have tried a few resolutions without sucess and i am currently awaiting for them to authorise the replacement of the front motor.

No I've not resolved this issue and I haven't discussed it with my dealer as it hasn't got to the point where it's annoying (which i thought it would). It sounds as though your vibration is more noticable than mine. I will mention it to the dealer when it goes in for the software update.

Hi, Porsche have now replaced the front motor on my car and it has solved this issue. Just beware that if you ask for Porsche to do the same it required the Porsche UK technical rep to drive the vehicle, authorise the warrnaty work and then took 10 days to complete the work! (but worth it for the improvement)

I have a rhythmic humming sound in my 4 S when in Range mode 40-45 MPH. My dealer says its normal...a 4 S loaner and Turbo S demo cars don't do it.

Hi, My own 4S vibration was in all modes which was why I could isolate the issue to the front motor (Sport mode forces the rear motor into the lower gear). The vibration was at 60 Hz ( 1 cycle ever second) and evident on throttle, neuntral and off throttle, but only when driving in a straight line ( so not when cornering as the LH & RH Wheels will rotate at different speeds). All the measurements we took on my car indicated that there was an out-of-balance force in the front motor which was exciting a 60hz resonating mode in the steering column. Porsche UK sent out one of their technical reps to assess the vehicle and he approved the motor replacement after driving the car and confirming the issue was not normal. Good luck with getting this issue sorted!

I just bought a 2021 Macan, I noticed the vibration instantly. They re balanced the tires an I didn't help. I drove it the manager and he said the vibration was completely normal, I insisted it wasn't normal so they said to make me happy they'll change the tires. Took off the Pirelli's and put on Michelin's and it drives like a Porsche now, beautiful ride.

We’re you able to find out what causes this? Was it normal behavior?

Same problem, how did you approach this with Porsche? Did you tell them it’s a vibration problem?
