That looks cool! Is the magnet strong enough to keep the phone in place also when accelerating really fast? or in fast corners?
How did you do the carbon look? I’m able to 3d print in Carbon Filament but of course than you won’t get this nice structure, it’s only very strong.

Yes, it's strong enough to hold the phone even during launch control and in fast corners :)
I printed it using Creality Hyper PLA and applied a carbon film similar to this one: https://amzn.eu/d/0lFwYxC

OK, I made one as my previous 3d printed one wasn't fitting so well - seems PLA shrinks over time...
Now I wish I had this design before - it means you don't need to rip apart the centre console as the cable routing is neat and simple, a good design and simple to fit. Of course due to laziness and risk avoidance the old MagSafe is still in the cup holder and the wiring in place, which isn't ideal. I used the same MagSafe as the OP because it looks cool. It's quite strong so you can't lift the phone up without pulling the unit out of the cup holder, so needs a sliding action. Used a Bambu Labs P1 and the finish is so good it matches the interior trim without the film needed. Actually I tried the film and I simply don't have the patience or skills to do that!

@JasMK awesome, your print looks great even without the film! If you're concerned about PLA shrinking, you can try printing with other materials, such as PETG (I've tried that as well).

Regarding the unit getting pulled out when you lift the phone, you can fix this by sticking several anti-slip pads or tape on the bottom edges. I used some that I had lying around (see the attached picture), and my unit stays firmly in place when I lift the phone. I’ve been using it for a while now. Similar ones can be purchased on Amazon: https://amzn.eu/d/8HQWjPL

Thank you for your review! I’d really appreciate it if you could also post your comments or review on the Printables page so those visiting the page directly can see the feedback.

Yep I added the 4 pads too, it fits nice but lets see if it's getting looser over time. Well done on the design, will see if I can add comments on your Printable later.

It looks great but I'm missing the point. I keep my iPhone in my pocket and use CarPlay. What can. it do if you have it exposed. I'm not being facetious, if I can get more from my phone and Taycan I want to know.

In your scenario, where you keep your phone in your pocket and don’t need to charge it in the car, you're right—this solution doesn't add much value. However, it makes phone charging easy and convenient. For instance, I don't keep my phone in my pocket while driving, so there’s really no phone holder to put it besides the cup holder or door pockets. I also need to charge my phone specially when traveling long distances.

I find the Taycan’s built-in charging option a bit tedious for a few reasons: opening the Taycan’s armrest isn’t very intuitive, my armrest storage is usually full, and using the built-in induction charger requires moving things around.

In my case, this solution is ideal. I can simply get in the car, place my phone on the holder, and pick it up when I’m leaving.

Hope it answers your question :)

Thank you. I agree the wireless charging is useless in my Taycan. The couple of times I tried to use it, the iPhone so hot I couldn't see the screen. Thank you for your explanation.

Hi there,

I’ve designed a phone holder for the Porsche Taycan. The 3D printing model is available here:
https://www.printables.com/de/model/989318-porsche-taycan-phone-holder

Your feedback and suggestions are much appreciated! :)

I was able to get this design printed and get a friend to attach the carbon film. It worked (see photos). Great design both functionally and aesthetically. Thanks so much. This is a big improvement of the original cup holder insert I was using. For one thing, the color ring remains visible with the stand in place. It is very well thought out in term of threading the charging cord into the center console grooves.

Haven't put in holding pads yet but I find it very easy to remove the phone from the stand with a bit of finger pressure on the stand.

Your print result looks fantastic! I'm glad you liked it and found it useful.

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but what is the this thing sitting on? my cup holder just has a massive hole in it, so cant figure out what this 3d printed part is sitting on. thanks

I'll send a picture later today showing the side view. I believe the 3-D plastic fits inside the cup holder but please wait for my photo. Thanks.
