Condition
Customer complains of PCM display stuck on loading spinner while Bluetooth and radio are still functional by
steering wheel buttons. (This ATI applies to the concern shown in Figure 1 but NOT Figures 2 & 3)
Technical Background
There is a conflict in software between the PCM and display causing the display to be stuck in a loop. The fault
currently occurs after VR19.0.1-update has been performed, affecting PCMs at software versions 3793 & 3823.
There are no fault codes associated with the display issue. Refer to the images below for the correct condition that applies to the concern.

Porsche Taycan TSB: PCM Display Stuck on Loading Spinner - "Temporary Solution" - Sep 8 2023 1698415330154

The temporary solution for this issue is to perform a factory reset for the PCM.
...
It is imperative NOT to replace the PCM. Replacement of the PCM has been proven ineffective to remedy the issue.

EDIT on Nov 4 2023: There is a report that campaign WPN9 addresses the loading spinner problem.
Edit on Aug 24, 2025: Link to updated TSB: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2025/MC-11021601-0001.pdf

Had this happen to me last Saturday "out of the blue." Did a two finger reboot... no effect. Let it sit 20 minutes and walked away. All better. Seems like a software update glitch... or Mitch McConnell took control of the car. :)

Were you able to two-finger reboot while the display was black? When you did the two-finger reset on the black display, did it switch into engineering mode, or just not respond?

I had similar on Friday.

Two finger rebooted it...think I had to do this while powering on. Went into engineering mode which had a restart option.

Mine kicked into this whilst trying to delete an account from the car.

Was trying that as I'd lost remote access to the car through Porsche Connect. When the system came back up, the account was still there. So "deregistered" it, logged back in and all was good.

Happened twice today on mine (plain screen not the spinner/Porsche logo)
Just rebooted itself after a short while each time.

It always seems to be around when OTA updates are happening with mine. Had calendar and map update a few days ago.

To ”fix” that and others I remove from right side fuse 2 and 7, wait time to have a beer and it works fine till next ”kinda” improvement update of the air….
seems some sorts of cache need to be cleared and boot ”cleaned”.

Pulling the fuses yourself and having a beer deprives dealer service of income from Porsche for "resetting the PCM" per the TSB.

I just had 2 days, back to back, when this happened. Both times I used the 2 finger in the top right of the screen to reset. It hasn’t happened again since, but it has only been 1 day since I reset and I am not driving the car today.

In my case, it happened shortly after starting a drive in the morning, where I don’t have any mobile coverage. It was working at first, then all of a sudden I got the spinning blue circle. I let the car sit overnight hopin it would correct itself, but no luck. I had to do the reset the following morning. The 2nd time was later that day, right after I visited a fast charger. Again, it was working while I was charging, then a short while after driving it went into the lock-up loopI was able to get the engineering mode active much easier after the practice from the first time, lol.

Both times the Homelink button moved up to the top right corner, and continued to be responsive, which was good otherwise I’d be locked out of my driveway and garage.. The 2 finger engineering mode was a bit tricky with the homelink button in the way but I finally got it working.

My 2023 Ct 4s has had a similar prob all year. Just had mine fixed, Porsche recalled 22k cars from 20 to 23 and has a pcm fix for the problem. my porsche dealer had to download a computer fix for the problem. I am not sure your problem is exactly as mine was. My pcm display would go black with the blue spinningi wheel. Mine happened about every third time I used my car. It sounds the same from what you are going thru. My dealer is in Danbury Ct. just fixed this Monday 11/6/2023

A quick update, my dealer recommended coming in and getting the wpn9 update to resolve the hung PCM condition. Will let you know if it fixes or continues, but it will be a weeks before they can get the car in.

wish this was an OtA update, they want the car overnight to update.

Please report back on the fix. I have the same problem on my 2022 4S and have been hoping for a software update to fix it. This one is fresh, so fingers crossed. I go through the spinning-blue wheel/two-finger reset like every three days. Seems random. And it's very annoying. I have to reset my Porsche more often than my cable modem. And yesterday the camera system decided not to load for a while on top of it.

Having it done today as part of the 20k service.... I have the same issue as you with doing the two finger salute every three days or more to reset the PCM - usually either the spinning wheel or apple music/podcasts are greyed out.... I'll post if WPN9 addresses the issue- will give it a week or two to ferment to make sure...

I've scheduled a service appointment to get WPN9 installed on Thursday. Sadly, I'm not entirely sure how to reliably replicate the issue since it seems to just happen at random every now and then.
