I want to get from A to B as fast as possible. I typically charge until charging speed drops below 200kW and I typically go between 170 km/h and 190 km/h if traffic allows (German Autobahn)- going faster increases overall driving time. My best long distance average speed (door to door) is 110 km/h. Long distance considered more than 500 km. What is the best average speed you are getting during regular workdays? Curious to compare J1.1 vs. J1.2 if average speed significantly increases.

Here is my best J1.1 result:

You'll most likely have slow speeds at the beginning / end of long trips, reaching / leaving highways , traffic and road works, at least in europe.

I have similar average speed on long (1400 km) or average (700 km) trips,

although driving at higher speeds. But going faster decreases overall driving time.

(250km/h are not real: CarScanner incorrect data)

Yes, many roadworks, heavy traffic and typically only 2 lanes  No advantage in Germany having no speed-limit...

Curious to understnd why you would expect a different average speed between the generations??
I think the average speed is only calculated while the Taycan Is switched on and ready to drive. I guess if you park up and charge, while having a coffee, that time is not included.

Last year in April, we drove through Germany from Basel to Hamburg in northern Germany ( 820 km).As stated above there are many stretches without speed limit, but there were also many roadworks. Our average speed came out at just over 100 km/h.

While driving from Malmö in Sweden to Stockholm, about 650 km stretch, resulted in an average speed of 107 km/h! And Sweden has speed limits of 100 and 120 km/h along that route. Without going more than max 5 km/h over the limit, the average still was higher! All due to very light traffic compared to Germany and only two stretches with roadworks. And it was a much more relaxed drive as welll. Not as tiring as the trip in Germany

above average speeds take into account charging time.

I can't find the link where Porsche was comparing the 2 generations on a long trip (Munich => Spain ?) and claiming that the new model was 45mn (?) faster due to bigger battery, better consumption so less charging time. But that was purely theoretical ...

In a real world, they did 2300km in 23 hrs so 100km/h. Pretty similar to what we experience.

and to Kyle's record on the electric Cannonball challenge

Anyway, nothing will beat a diesel car with a big gas tank on a long distance...

I believe you refer to this presentation!
Porsche Taycan What is your fastest long distance average speed? J1.1 vs 1.2 IMG_2304

And in that case, yes there will be a difference in time spent on the road from start to finish. But that, in my experience, will not be reflected in the average speed. I think the average speed, in the app or car, does not take into account the charging times?

If you calculate the saverage speed from the above distance and travel time then there would be some difference.

Agree with you about the diesel car, if you can avoid the biological issue of having to stop. I personally would welcome a longer range and faster charging stops, but at what cost. Maybe in a few years when J1.2 are available in the 2nd hand market??

Charging stops do impact average speed - check it out. Average speed dropping while charging. Question is: How much faster are you arriving in J1.2 in real world scenarios. Higher average speed expected from bigger battery, lower cunsumption and faster charging speed. Is difference big enough to upgrade?

In this example average speed increases from 91 km/h to 96 km/h.

91 km/h in J1.1 is lame. And +5 km/h in J1.2 on more than 1.000 km is not impressive.

Using "my" average speed of 110 km/h the trip would have been completed in 11 hours and 20 minutes saving 2 hours 20 minutes.

You could approximately save 1 stop every 600/700 km, so 20mn less.
Does 20mn justify to go for Gen 2 on a trip you do once a month (or once a week) ? No ...
Active ride could be a reason, depending on where/how you drive

Actually it misses some of the charging stops/time. I can't figure out if it stops after a certain time, or for another reason (I always have the car switched off). For instance the long trip above took 1hr more than it says in the app. Same in other recorded trips: they are always a bit shorter than Car Scanner.

I double checked the consumption: it's strictly identical to what Car Scanner reports. At least that is exact ...

Would this qualify?

The average was 70mph up to the last stop, 45 miles earlier. This included a few segments with ice and snow. Time spent charging (~3hrs) is clearly not included in the trip average. (First gen, day 2 of inaugural trip.)

interestingly the average speed in your picture would not come at 69 mph but about 67.5 mph if you calculate it from your data?

I wonder how Porsche can win races with all these data inconsistencies... ?
