Hi all, I picked up my 2020 TT about 2 weeks ago.

Wife hates it, the glass roof affects her via way of motion sickness and wont drive in it.

Has anyone had any PPF or “wrap”done to their roof to really darken it up make it completely opaque?

Is that something that would be done on the outside (roof) or inside of the car?

You can easily add film to the inside of the Panoramic roof to block the sun in various degrees of opacity.

Just picked up my '23 Taycan 4S this week and had protective film and ceramic coating applied. As you know, that Panoramic roof is huge! I was too cheap to select the ~$3,400 photo chromatic system but when I saw the car, I began to wonder if I'll need some protection in the summer. Asked the detailing shop what they thought. They replied that they've done this many times. For $300 they will apply an exterior protective film up to 100% opacity, your choice. Maybe you could have just the front half applied, allowing light into the back of the car but blocking your wife's view and resultant motion sickness. Otherwise, cover it completely for a modest cost.
I'll wait until this summer to see if I'll need a film application to cut down on heat load. Good luck!

My car is fully PPF’d and coated. There is a single piece of PPF on the exterior of the glass roof. It is very hard to detect, even up close. I have never seen a film that is dark that goes on the exterior (other than vehicle wrap). That stuff works best when the edges are wrapped…. It is not possible to wrap edges on the glass roof. Best bet would be an interior tint for what you are trying to accomplish.

Are you certain that the pano roof is the cause of her motion sickness (e.g. is she used to EVs, particularly high performance ones)? Maybe try a wide-brimmed hat or peaked cap to block out the overhead view to confirm the source of the problem?

I can't even see the panoramic roof from the front seat without turning round. Is is reflections causing the problem or does she prefer to ride in the back seat?

It might be a bit of both of the above, I’m having the piano black passenger panel PPF’d in matt to stop reflection, and the glass covered should also help.

we have a number of performance cars, so I’m fairly certain it’s not the acceleration.

she also offered to wear a baseball cap though - so good suggestion there!

thx all

I suggested that possibility as it seems that some people initially experience motion sickness until they adjust to the relatively silent forceful acceleration of an EV, even if they were unperturbed by comparable performance with an ICE. I myself had a short transition period, I wouldn't describe as motion sickness, but an odd sensation that made me lift off from full throttle acceleration for fear of not feeling 100% in a way I can't explain- thankfully I soon adjusted.
