Another one for the list. Heater blew hot air for a couple of days without being able to control temperature and has now packed in completely. AA need to collect car due to demisting issue and have such a backlog of Taycans’ to collect I‘ve been told to wait at least a week before they can even get it back to Porsche Sheffield.

When will Porsche finally issue a recall??

Mine went in last week, no ETA on the parts, just an estimate of 2 weeks. If I wanted the AA to recover it to Porsche that would have been another 2 weeks just to wait for the recovery! Thankfully a crisp morning with low humidity made the drive OK. Has anyone in the UK managed to keep their Enterprise/rental longer than the 5 days? They really should issue a recall, it seems a major issue across the board.

My timeline.....

Heater broke Dec 23rd.

Couldn't even get through to Porsche Assist/AA over Xmas
(but I didn't need a car then) as AA were overwhelmed with Xmas rush/train strikes.

Got in touch with dealer on 23rd. He told me to persist with PA and get car sent to them - so got eventually through to PA on 27th. Received a call from Enterprise same day.

Car picked up late eve on 3rd Jan by AA (after I had to chase them!).
Dealer phoned 4th to say HVAC fault and new part ordered.

Courtesy car dropped by Enterprise on 4th.

Updated:
Dealer phoned on 9th to say (revised) part arrived on Sat 7th and they started work straight away and was finished on 9th.
Tested overnight and picked up on 10th.
So 6 days at dealers overall / 3 days from part landing.

Just dropped Enterprise car back with dealer when I pick my car up (had it 6 days in answer to post above).

Is there a running spreadsheet somewhere on this forum keeping track of forum members with heater failures and what year/model they have? I'd like to set one up myself but I have no clue how to do it.

I certainly hope they are replacing these with improved/updated parts to prevent repeat failures. If so, then perhaps newer builds will not be affected? Though that's probably wishful thinking. Maybe we are all on the clock regardless of build date and only after some miles logged will the failure inevitably happen.

Tooney, correct me if I’m wrong but the replacements have been somehow modified, correct? I read that originally they were not but more recently they are?
I have no idea. I know the part number of the replacement heater that was installed on my Taycan in Nov 2022. I don't know the PN of the heater that failed, or whether the replacement heater differs in any way from the one that failed.

Posters on here have shared info from parts lists that show various part numbers for the heater over time. No info on whether differences in part numbers affect failures.

Root cause of heating failures is unknown. Is it the in-line heater - poor design, improperly manufactured part, QC failure? Is it improper factory installation of a good part? Is it something external to the heater - hardware or software - that is causing it to fail?

So far Porsche is handling this by waiting until heater failures occur in the field, and having service diagnose and repair the problem. The one Porsche TSB on Taycan heater failures said the problem was a parts problem limited to 57 2020 and 2021 Taycans.

I had BMW 4 Series Grand Coupe from Enterprise for 27 days. Work was completed in 21 days but could not pick due to New Year.

I wish you all luck with this! I have just had the third one fitted at Porsche Wilmslow. Failed on Boxing Day got the car back last Saturday no courtesy car available and offered some MG SUV as a hire car by enterprise, didn’t accept the car and used one of my landrovers. They told me this heat pump is a revised design and won’t fail again.

I had my car back today. Apparently (what the guy delivered the car said), it was not the heat pump but another electrical high voltage device necessary to “warm up” liquid like a sort of radiator for the heat ? (sounds like heat pump)…
I don’t have any document showing P/N etc... any ideas ?
