Yesterday I heard water sloshing from bottom to top of the tailgate in my CT when I opened it for my dog to get out.
I heard it again as it closed.
There were signs of water running out through gaps in the trim while it opened and closed. and drips near the little red lights.

There are 3 rubber grommets along the lower edge of the tailgate that look like drains.
Has anybody had the same and drained it?

Can't think the electrics in there will benefit from being under water.

@f1eng i don’t have this problem, despite subjecting the tail lights to vigorous hosing down a couple of times. I took a look at the grommets this evening, please find a couple of photos below.

The clips are placed at the long ends, and seem to be brittle (one of mine broke off). I suspect that lifting from the long edge, or trying to press in the clips from both ends might be the better approach.

Once the cap is off it looks like it should allow most of the water to drain - it’s close enough to the edge. You can park the car creatively (and use a corner hole for draining) and use one of the side holes.

The seals are probably failing, and IMO this repair should be addressed under warranty. I’d recommend filming/documenting your mitigation.

Good luck.

In Texas we’ve forgotten what rain is, so no… I don’t have this issue on mine. Not that I’m aware of anyway. Maybe if it ever rains again.

Strange. The tailgate doesn’t have drains because there isn’t really a way for water to get in there around the glass. The window sits on top of a closed frame. I would guess that maybe one of the electrical grommets is not seated properly and letting water in. Or possibly through the rear wiper. There are grommets at the top of the tailgate and behind the light bar. Here’s a couple pics to show what it looks like with the trim and light removed. Definitely take a video of the evidence if you can get the water to drain out.

@bsclywilly the 3 dots at the very edge of the hatch are grommets covering some holes. The pics I posted earlier in the thread represent one of those (the grommet and the hole, respectively).
There are several ways water can infiltrate the hatch - from the top electrical conduit, to the side covers/grommets (I had one of those fall one day while cleaning) to even the bottom lip where the clasp is mounted (next to the closing buttons). Since in OP’s case it really is sloshing, there must be quite a bit of it inside, so my guess is a failing gasket at the top (where the electrical cables cross from the main body to the hatch).

Thanks, The dealer have asked for the car for a week so they can find where the water is getting in and fix it but when they phoned I was up on The Ridgeway walking my dog so I have to call back for a precise timing. Maybe a fault bonding the rear window in he guessed.

thanks for those.
There is evidence of water running out of the trim at the junctions of the piece removed in your picture, both at the sides and around the panel with the tailgate close switches in it.
I sent photos to my dealer and just have to find a mutually convenient time to take it in for a week.

I missed this post earlier @f1eng . I believe I have a similar issue but in my case it has lead to the trunk not opening now in three separate occasions. I’m due back at the dealer next week to try get this fixed once more. The last time the dealer confirmed there was water ingress. See my thread below which I’ll update as I learn more.

He asked me to bring the car in and leave it for a week, I haven't had a free week yet!

Go to the dealer. It's a known problem and if the car has a valid warranty it will be fixed free of charge. If you leave it too long the electrical could potentialy burn out.

The dealer found the leak and fixed it under warranty, they had the car 3 days in the end.
