I understand from a dealer that Porsche as of earlier this year is offering an extended up to 10 year warranty on Taycans. The warranty simply extends what came with the car (so it adds 5 years, I believe). For my car no inspection is needed (about 15K on a 2.4 yr old car). Other provisions as explained to me sounded reasonable. Has anyone experience with such and would you expect the cost to vary significantly between dealers or be fixed by Porsche U.S.?

If you use forum search, search titles only option, and search for extended warranty, you will find numerous prior threads on this subject.

I appreciate this but as there are at least 19 forum pages containing topics that touch on extended warranty I thought something specifically focused on the Porsche Protection Plan Protection warranty in the U.S. (which I was told only became available this year for the Taycan) might be useful.

I’d be interested but the devil’s in the details. Any link to any materials?

The US policy might differ, but have Approved (extended) Warranty in UK and happy with it so far. The 12 month pricing here is around $1300, and it has in my case already paid off.

There are some minor restrictions on coverage relative to the new car warranty though so check the fine print.

I bought an 84 month Porsche warrantee when I bought out the lease last September.
It cost $5k and covers everything but the battery, which is covered by the original 8 year HV battery warrantee. I find it works fine, and I carry the policy in my glove box for the dealer to review each time there is a need to use it. It's great for peace-of-mind in light of the high cost of repairs.

I recently got a 96 month warranty for my MY2020 4S and after negotiating with the dealer got it down below $4.5K, which feels like a decent trade-off. My 4S only has about 27K miles on it (my gotcha day is coming up on July 15) and I have zero desire to get rid of it or upgrade to a .2 generation. Aside from the recalls, which my dealer easily took care of, my car has been outstanding and still gives me the grins. I know folks have groused about the depreciation but I just don’t care — my plan all along was to drive this for a minimum of 8 years and then see what the next full-generation brings.

Wow that sounds like a great deal! This makes me question my decision of purchasing a 2 year CPO for my GTS (making its warranty up to 6 years till 2030) for $3k. If I could just extend the warranty for 8 more years with only $4.5k, why would/should I get the CPO warranty? I guess there is some difference between what a CPO warranty provides v.s. what the extended warranty provides. Honestly I didn't find a clear answer what the major diff is. It sounds to me the extended warranty is a much better deal.

One bid I got was about $10K for an additional 6 years which works out to $1,666/year. I wonder if your MA dealer is interested in out-of-state business?

I am looking at a recent copy of the Porsche Protection Plan, exclusion section. Two items concern me:

EXCLUDED: Any of the following parts and/or services: hinges, glass, glass framework and fastening adhesives, lenses, sealed beams, body parts and/or panels, alignment of body parts, flexible body parts, structural framework, convertible top framework, structural welds, removable hardtop assemblies, bumpers, trim, moldings, door panels, door handles, door lock cylinders, [bunch of wheel and tire stuff], upholstery [paint and hoses]. MY CONCERN here would be the glass roof, the headlights, door locking mechanisms. I would think these are covered under the 5-year 50,000 mile warranty and was told that this extension was equally protective. Perhaps I'm reading this wrong?

EXCLUDED: Any repair or replacement of a covered part which has not failed but which a repair facility recommends or requires to be repaired or replaced. Any cost to modify, covert or retrofit original equipment or any parts that have been updated by the manufacturer for the sole purpose of betterment is not covered. MY CONCERN here is whether the exclusion covers both the first sentence and the second or just the second (the modification, betterment sentence). If the exclusion covers the first sentence then this policy won't help you even if a recommendation is made to repair or replace unless a "failure" has occurred. Isn't that a problem?

I guess it's a bit of a leap of faith to assume that they will make good on the warrantee.
As I understand it, if you don't use it, you are entitled to something of a refund.

i understood that you can cancel anytime for a pro-rated rebate based on miles and months remaining. I didn't notice anything in the PPA about a refund if not utilized.
