BTW car went into Colchester on Wednesday and collected Thursday AM. Did the full 2-year service and completed all the outstanding campaigns etc including ARB0.

Total cost (with a small discount for overlap with ARB0-related fluid replacement) was £552.35

£600 is about right which ordinarily would include the mandatory fluid change - not a lot for 2 years motoring or 20K miles.

All dealers should quote the same and apply the same standards. Peter Vardy obviously views it differently but which is correct is the question.
My gripe is that they’re charging me £600 to replace a pollen filter and look over the car. Pricing for an EV should be less then what O pay on my ICE cars. I can’t help feeling that they’re protecting their service revenue by pricing it around the same, even though there’s less work to be done.

....
The Porsche is wildly more complex than the Tesla especially when you look at the (air) suspension, gearbox, RAS/RWS etc.
...
Not every car has those things, and how much of that is routinely looked at as part of a 2yr service?

....
Fancy dealerships can't exist on fumes and to assume EVs will be cheap to maintain (far fewer moving parts) is being a little naive therefore the servicing has to help manage opex.
It doesn't "have" to. This is a choice the dealers are making.

There's no reason why the fancy dealership couldn't be funded out of the costs of selling new cars, if that's the primary reasons they feel they need to have them.

Legacy manufacturers need to be careful not to be sticking their heads in the sand and leaning on old school approaches. They won't wash forever.

That said...

...I rate Colchester.

The staff have been fantastic each time I've taken mine there. I can live with £500 every 2yrs for a car of this capability and the dealership is a reasonable balance of fancy (plenty of new shiny to look at) and functional. I've also not had any issues with loan cars.

Anyone being charged over £550 incl. brake fluid change is being fleeced IMO :)

In a standard 2yr service they're also flushing the brake fluid and changing it, and giving the car a decent look over.

£600 is too much IMO. Nearer £500 is getting into sensible territory. Especially if you need a loaner etc. 3 or 4 hours for software updates, a good look over the car and changing the brake fluid, feels OK to me.

The thing I find strange is how dealers who quote £250ph labour for a Taycan, can do a full service (Inc brake fluid and pollen filter change) for £500-£600.

How much are the parts and how much labour/time is involved?

I am assuming the hourly rate suddenly becomes more 'flexible' when it's something people shop round for.

Breakdown below from Colch.

You can even read the bit where I said Tunbridge are offering a full discount on the brake fluid change due on 1st service as they're carrying out ARB0 (which require a fluid change) at the same time...

They argued it was only a 'partial' change needed for ARB0 - I said what just a top up then...didnt bother pursuing it further. Got a bit off.

To be fair they gave me a whole load of free Porsche swag; boot liner, full detailing kit, bluetooth headset, electric fridge bag etc etc last time I was in. So swings and roundabouts.

As per my invoice above @ Colchester. Hourly rate is £210+VAT (£252 inc). Not sure this is applicable to all Stratstone Porsche dealerships around the country.

what did you get the swag for? I got just over a £1000 rrp of swag from Colchester (sounds similar products to you) last time my car was in for 6 weeks or so, due to it being the 3rd time back there for similar issues. Sold most of it on eBay though but nice all the same.

It was in for the heater recall and battery seal campaign. I think it was meant as an 'inconvenience apology' from Porsche GB. That was the first time they'd seen the car for service. I bought the car from their sister dealership in East London.

I thought £250 ph was excessive.
Now we are seeing £350 ph. ?

Its a considerable difference in cost between dealerships for any major work. Means you always have to shop around.

True, but my 3 or so 4 next closest dealerships are also PRG, so I’d have to start looking at a couple of hours drive away etc….

I use to use Hatfield but got messed about a bit so choose to go to the newer High Wycombe one. They actually help you out!

My dealer has come back to me to confirm that they did full brake fluid change when doing the brake hose recall and they have invoiced Porsche for it so it's not required. They've also brought the price down from £625 to £508 for the rest.

I'll be asking them to record the brake fluid change in the online service history.
