Ive got it on a Bentley Continental and i find it very distracting, so when i was building my Taycan Turbo i i made sure I didn’t add it

I can see hating on Lane Keep Assist (I always turned that annoying thing off on the Macan), but LCA is just some lights in the mirror, and I always found it useful.

LCA is disabled in Sports Plus mode?

After I read your posting I reread the LCA section of "Good to Know" and could find no reference to LCA's being disabled in Sports Plus mode. Where did you learn this about this limitation to LCA? Clearly, if true, all drivers that have cars with LCA should be aware of this limitation.

Whoop - my bad. I had just returned from a couple hours of 'spirited driving' in Sports Plus mode and never noticed it. It does in fact stay on in all the modes, so if you don't want it you just need to turn it of in 'assistance systems'.

Great, thanks for clarifying. I like LCA and am very glad that I have it, particularly since the visibility over the shoulder to the right rear is not great in the Taycan.

That's really disappointing to hear that they have already given up on their original flagship model and just moved on. Is it really that hard to retrofit what sounds like software modification only?

No indication that they've "given up" on any 2020 Taycan.

Alot of CarPlay is regulatory approval. While it may seem very easy and straightforward, there is a ton of legalities that go into letting Apple essentially overwrite a manufacturers own software.

I'm hopeful they'll retrofit Wireless CarPlay to 2020 Taycan, but at the same times don't think not having it wireless is a huge deal.

A lot of people forget that CarPlay can be a huge drain on your phones battery. Sometimes more than wireless charging can keep up with depending on what you're doing. This is why even if I had a car with wireless CarPlay I'd probably still plug my phone up.

I was reading from a FB groups post that their Porsche dealership has the ability to lower the "low" setting even more by software alone. This subsequently will make all other settings lower as well.

That being said, I just came back from my local dealership today and they had no clue about this software command and couldn't assist me with it. Just wondering if you have any idea what this entails? I'm sure it wasn't fake, maybe only certain dealerships know about it? Thanks for your help

Luke what do you think of the Passenger Display? Do you think it will see additional functions like allowing the passenger to link their phone separately from the main PCM? Any additional value at resale if you have this option?

I personally think the Passenger Display is just really cool. Probably has a little weight in resale value, as a lot of people really tend to weigh it heavily as an option.

I think the passenger display is going to be a pretty big focus for Porsche moving forward. I really do think in the next few years we will start to see streaming options from AppleTV, Netflix, Etc. make their way into the Taycan via the passenger display.

All that being said though, I think the biggest advantage of the Passenger Display is that it gets rid of the awful looking/easily scratch prone high gloss black trim that is usually there.

But elsewhere it was stated that the passenger display is truly just an extension of the main PCM display so it will be driven by the same computer. Still that being said it can do most anything with the right software.

He said that technically you can trick the system into artificially lowering the vehicle even in it's lowest setting. He also said that some European spec cars might be lower from the factory as standard.

That being said, he told me he personally would not perform this for any client even if they directly asked him. He said overwriting a Porsche system is pretty arduous and could end up pretty badly if something did in fact go wrong.

Are there any original lifting pads. The point at the bottom of the car are hollow, like a plastic/rubber can fit up there.

Unless I'm misinterpreting what you mean by "overwrite a manufacturer's own software", CarPlay doesn't really do that. The PCM build contains the CarPlay client. Nothing is overwritten. The only thing that happens is that CarPlay can display, in a window, in PCM and get inputs from the controls, etc...as can any of the "apps" that ship with the car, or are available via FoD.

CarPlay treats the vehicle like a an external monitor, usb keyboard, mouse and microphone/speaker system - the PCM is still running in the back ground - nothing overwrites anything - the car turns it’s displays and input devices (user inputs, buttons, and such)

it’s like plugging a lap-top into an USB-Dock w/Display/keyboard

the one difference is the carplay (host the vehicle) can communciate back to the iPhone and provide information like gps co-ordinates internet and other “data” about the vehicle...

carplay is a system by which your iPhone can have an external display.

Each "section" or "app" (climate, navigation, etc) and the carplay client, runs on its own docker container. They are kept fully isolated from each other and are packaged as individual container images.
