Also got the ARB6 letter (first letter ever, never got one for the brake hoses and other recalls), I'm not going to bother getting it checked every 60 days ... I'll just wait until the software is ready

So I heard from the service centre today (Silverstone), and was told that my car had had the ARB6 checks at the end of April (when I bought the car) and that it wasn’t due for another check until 60 days from then (so end of June).

On a facebook forum today though, someone said that Porsche OPC’s had stopped selling second hand J1 Taycans which had received this recall over the weekend. And another member stated that they had been due to pick one up today and had been told it would be another week and that it needed ARB6 battery check completed.

So, thats clear as mud then!

The plot thickens. I have a booking for end of June in response to the app alert.

I thought the car would be reporting battery cell status to the mothership after those checks were done in March.

I bought my CPO Taycan on Friday but annoyingly it had to stay with them as the surround cameras failed on my very first drive. To complicate things, this then cropped up over the weekend on the My Porsche app. I'll hopefully find out today when I see my beauty!

Ditto in just getting the triangle in the app. I’ve had ARB6 done a couple of times now.

From memory, the app has notified of recalls in a similar way a couple of times for other unrelated recalls in the past. Certainly not all of them. So suspect they’ve just updated something in the Porsche servers to do it.

I don’t think it’s indicative of anything new or a positive step. Maybe not enough people responding to the ridiculous letter or they feel they’re at risk of litigation if someone has a fire and they can’t prove they’ve been notified. ?‍

I was enquiring on a 2021 Cross Turismo and was told that it had been taken off sale due to a recall. Luckily, the other one that I had just paid a deposit on is not affected!

Just got off the phone with my OPC.

There is currently no ETA on the necessary software update from Porsche. I would suggest weighing up if you really want to let go of your vehicle at this point given this, unless you're concerned about the risk of a battery fire or whatever the recall suggests could happen (though in theory no greater risk of this than prior this weekend?).

There are no courtesy cars being offered during this recall (at least at my OPC, and hearing others).

I didn't have the choice with my car as it was already in their garage immediately post purchase and the Friday before the recall with an unrelated issue, but that means Im lucky to have a loan car.

All recent sales are being recalled with transporters bringing vehicles back to await the update works.

Clearly they don’t want to do it. But I’m not sure how software can detect if some wires are too bent or components badly assembled. All it can do is shut the car off if it senses something bad about to happen.
What the consumers want is the defective kit replaced. I really can’t imagine how Porsche can be getting away with what they’re doing to try and mitigate (not fix) the risks.

We need our friends State-side to do what they do best and start suing them!

Oh and do it all with a 60 day rolling recall but not compensate for loss of vehicle for 2 days each time.

Hi @taycev good news on the loan car at least.

Is the necessary software update you refer to the one that means the car will alert the driver via the instruments if there's a battery issue or is it the ability of Porsche to remotely monitor the battery?

Neither a fix as @BigBob says, but doing either would mean we don't have this 60 day dealer service recall wouldn't it ?‍

I think it’s a bit of both. But certainly the idea is you get a warning light or ejector seats fire off or something.

Give me a new battery please.

Also got the alert in the app a few days back.
My car has already had the usual 60 day battery checks, done 3 times…. and the next is not due for a while.

I think the app alert is just another backend glitch (that Porsche software team haven’t a clue about !).

I am at the dealers in mid-June anyway for a service and will then enquire…. Until then, I’m just ignoring the yellow alert.


As has been said many times by multiple people across the world:

I'm weighing up if I reject my new (distance) purchase before the 14 days are up on the back of this, before the 14 day elapses.
Though given I never actually got to drive the car, I wonder if the car was technically never "delivered" even though it got registered to me as a keeper.

You might be able to get a bit more ‘off’ from the dealership…. Taycans are in plenty now and dealers are struggling to shift… so I guess they would still want you to have the car (albeit at a higher discount). Less profit is better than no sale.

Porsche GB have confirmed that this specific recall can't be resolved by 60 day module checks. It needs the software update (which doesn't have an ETA!), else cars won't be released by dealers on safety grounds.

If anyone had the amber warning for ARB6 in the app yet was allowed to drive off after a module check, I'd love to know!
