I keep a close eye on my tyres. Tyre pressure values are always displayed and tyres pumped up when needed, and I check the depth every month or so on the outer, middle and the inner grooves.
However, it’s hard to check the very inner edge, so I was shocked to see a 6cm split which looked ready to go to 8+cm.
I don’t recall hitting anything, so no doubt a symptom of a very heavy car and shitty roads plus too much camber.
I only noticed this because I fitted my winter wheels.
The fronts are wearing evenly across the whole width and have 5+mm left. The rears were even and down to 3mm except the very inner edge. (I’ll get the camber checked).
Tyre date codes are Oct 2024, and they were fitted in Feb 2025 and have done under 8,000 miles!
305x30R1, Goodyear Eagle F1, Asymmetric 5, NF1.
As an aside, the 20” winter wheels transform the ride and comfort of the car. Far more compliant on our crappy roads.
But I can’t push as hard from standstill or through a corner. And the 21” Spyders look so much better.
