Hi everyone,

New to this community so please be gentle. I've just placed an order on a used Taycan GTS from June 2023. Bought it from a Porsche certified pre-owned dealer in Germany.

I will be exporting it to another country in EU since I did not want to pay the extortion prices in my own country.

Still have about 6 months left on the new car warranty and have the option to extend it once I'm back home at a cost of course.

Was shown that this car was sold new back in 2023 for 160K EUR. It has a decent spec but not fully loaded with 20K Km on the car.

Manage to get it for 80K EUR, I am aware that Taycan's do not tend to hold their value too well and a 50% price cut on a car that is 1.5 years old seems excessive, but is this the normal Taycan depreciation we are seeing?

Was this a good deal or a fair price?

Thanks.

Comparing to my purchase, also importing used Taycan from German Porsche last summer, this sounds pretty good deal for the young age, odometer and GTS version. So you have my ?

50% off MSRP does sound like a good deal. The GTS is a great driving car. Enough get-up-and-go to get you in trouble if you want. Enjoy!

Great deal. I would never have bought my 2023 GTS sport turismo if I thought I could buy it 18 months later for 50 percent off. These cars have had unreasonably bad depreciation especially given lack of significant change in newer models. Yes I know the 2025 has better range and charges a little bit faster but not enough to justify the amount of depreciation that has occurred. It is due largely to Porsche producing too many cars when the market was good and demand falling off in the current market.

Here in the UK the depreciation is mainly down to the excessively generous (IMO) tax loophole for business drivers most of whom dumped the car on the second hand market at 3 years old.

Depreciation is also demand/fashion dependant too.
A friend of mine bought a 1 year old 911S at half list price in the early 1970s they were nothing like as fashionable as now and it was a cigar brown colour (I really liked it...). It would be worth an absolute fortune now, one like it for sale for £180,000, again fashion and there is no predicting it.

I really appreciate all the replies, from what I gather it does seem like it was a good purchase.

I think it's hard to predict when the depreciation curve will begin to flatten but I bought the car knowingly that it will most likely keep loosing its value above market standards for the next few years.

A couple more weeks now till the pick up date. Feelings of excitement mixed with anxiety as I never owned an EV and my first drive will be a road trip from Germany to Portugal.

Sounds like a relative bargain. A quick search showed dealers in the U.S. asking above $100k (for any spec GTS) certified used cars. 4 years of factory warranty in the U.S. so that will have some, relatively small, impact on the price. Just make sure the only open recalls are for either ARB6 or ARB7. The software is not yet available for those. The selling dealer should have taken care of any others prior to selling it to you.

Depreciation is going to be a big hit on pretty much any EV. Maybe worse on the Taycan due to the ongoing battery recalls. But owner #1 took most of the pain on your car and you shouldn't suffer too much, but you will suffer a little.

Did you manage to get something off their advertised price?

Just a bit. They took 1000€ off because the 1 year used car warranty issued in Germany has no validity in Portugal and offered the export plates and insurance that was valued at 500€ ish…

Yeah, that's what I thought. A but weird though that the Porsche Approved Warranty wouldn't be valid in Portugal. AFAIK it's transferrable. Could be that they need to do some paperwork though. Thanks for the quick reply!

I was told that the new car warranty is valid in all EU but for used car warranty issued in Germany a small list of countries do not accept it. Portugal being one of them and I believe Spain, Ireland and the Czech republic. Was never explained the reason why. Anyway, still have new car warranty left and already paid for a 3 year extension in Portugal. Not cheap but worth having…
