For those that missed it in other Taycan 2026 threads

PCM for MY26 runs same hardware as MY20-MY25.
PCM software version for MY26 is 4578;
For MY25 it's 4360; for MY20-24 it's 3885. Tehnically, MY20 is capable of running MY26 PCM software version also, as the hardware is the same.

That is quite surprising. Didn't the press release announce new hardware for the PCM? Maybe they just called it the same?

Can be other hardware, like improved memory or faster CPU. But it is not new architecture. I’m not surprised. It did not make financial sense to change hardware two years after a refresh model.

So annoying that Porsche won't allow all models keep up. FWIW my 911 Targa is running a 2022 version of the software on the same PCM hardware. But at least the 911 doesn't really "need" the PCM in the same way as the Taycan does for battery pre-conditioning.

It’s not; H9J10350 is the same unit shipping since 2019; just different batch which changes every few months - no internal changes.
You can order it online for 1.8k, compatible with all manufacturing years.

It’s the same part used across multiple models, panamera, 911, taycan, etc

This is confirmed by my dealer/service guy

Strictly software difference, but porsche instructs them to not do any updates unless they are critical for bugs costumers complain about.

I'm sure the pricing has changed, but other than this. I cannot tell any difference in options or packaging

Same in UK - looks to be "same old same old" - UK still has PB+ as standard on all variants which is the main difference I can see when compared to NA.

No surprise they don't update the PCM just for fun. It's a pain in the a.. to update if it fails...

Would there be any potential downside to upgrading a GTS MY2023 from PCM 3385 to 4578, if one could get one's local PC to do this? I.e. might it in some cases become slower due to the newer software expecting different (faster) hardware, even though the architecture is the same and thus technically compatible..?
